El Presidente Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I am sure it will be a mutiple distribution strategy but the post embargo situation appears to be getting a little bit clearer. http://www.tobaccoreporter.com/2015/10/imperial-tobacco-forms-tabacalera-usa/ 1
Colt45 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I don't know, I read it as Altadis and JR operating independently under the Tabacalera umbrella. Currently, JR's stores are in North Carolina only, so were they to be the primary retailer, I guess it would be mainly internet.
kuma Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Hey Rob sounds like tabacalera-usa will mirror Spains way of doing things. Should be a win / win for both groups.....
dangolf18 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Once the embargo is lifted, first thing I'm doing is jumping on a plane to Gibraltar and bringing back 2 suitcases full of aged stuff. Wonder what import limits will be imposed on us though. 3
Popular Post stogieluver Posted November 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2015 I'm not doing business with JR's if this happens. Sticking with our host. 21

PapaDisco Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I'm not doing business with JR's if this happens. Sticking with our host. Hell yeah! It only gets more convenient, and the quality control/inspection can't be beat!
NSXCIGAR Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 JR is just a subsidiary of Altadis which is a subsidiary of Imperial. I read this as Tabacalera simply being a new management group for both Altadis USA and JR and probably the future distributor of Habanos on the USA, when/if that happens. As long as Habanos/Altadis/Imperial still exists I don't see why there would be any difference in the US than anywhere else in the world. No surprise a distributor would be created by already established interests to manage and distribute both Cuban and US products. I think you'll see the same model as everywhere else in the world. Multiple LCDH outlets in major US markets selling direct and USA retailers obtaining cigars from this new Tabacalera distributor. That being said, I can buy from many places in the world right now, meaning many distributors and many retailers and I still buy from here much of the time.
Elvis Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The distribution channel is one thing, the quality of cigars that fill it will be another matter entirely.
SCgarman Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I am sure it will be a mutiple distribution strategy but the post embargo situation appears to be getting a little bit clearer. http://www.tobaccoreporter.com/2015/10/imperial-tobacco-forms-tabacalera-usa/ The "post embargo" situation really means nothing as long as the embargo is STILL in effect and it in fact is. And with congress and the president always in deadlock and never able to agree on anything the embargo may be in place for another 10 years, who really knows. Just because the US has taken a few baby steps towards relations with Cuba really means little. As I have said many times Obama has a year left in office and then he is gone! Nobody knows what the next President will do regarding Cuba. Everyone thinks they have the goose that will lay the golden egg! 2

No doubt a lot of truth to what you are saying However, business is positioning itself on both sides. That is undeniable.
Fuzz AI Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Guys, come on! Support your local distributor... so the rest of us can keep Rob's selections! 4
Phinz Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Still buying from Rob, even if JR gets to sell Cubans in the USA, but I'd quickly become a "beat the dealer" addict, too! (I try it out every once in a while, even though I've never had a hand that could actually win, no matter how I'd picked)
Lasabar Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If embargo gets lifted ill still shop through rob and I will 2 day ship everything. Sent from my 86" White Testarossa Will the embargo affect shipping? I would assume, embargo or not, that anything coming into this country will still be at the whim of overseas travel and customs.
PartagasIV Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 One immediate thought--if there's a grey market elsewhere, why wouldn't there be domestically? Just saying. 1
RickHendeson Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Also a JR's in St. Louis, just for the record
forgop Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Will still buy outside the US. It'll still be cheaper than what our government will tax them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk 3
Geo17pip Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Interesting. Where do you think the first US based La Casa Del Habano would be? 1

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk If Private Importation of Tobacco Products in the US works anything like Canada or Aus, you'll have to pay import duty on them once they arrive in the US It would still be slightly cheaper than buying locally, but you'll still be at the mercy of the Tax Man
