polarbear Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Christmas is coming and this year I asked the missus for a new cigar lighter and cutter. I have a bunch of them already but variety is the spice of life and who doesn't like new toys Do any of the members have suggestions of a decent lighter or cutter that can be had for around $100us each? Couple of points: I already have a bunch of Xikar Xi and Palio cutters, so a different manufacturer/ design would be nice Soft Flame or Jet Flame lighters are fine The lighter and the cutter don't have to match, but matched sets would be interesting Please post pics and links if possible as I will be showing the missus this thread if I get enough replys Thanks guys
shlomo Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 25 Ronson lighters will last you through 3 generations of smokers. Multi size punch from a good company would be nice. $80 left to buy a nice big ashtray. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I've been doing some research lately as I'm about to buy a new lighter and I've pretty much settled on the Xikar Pulsar Triple Jet lighter. It's less than your price but I think it's comparable to pretty much anything in that range. It's got a retractable punch cutter which is a must for me. There are lots of nice Colibris in that price range $50-100 that perform well initially and rate highly but I have had nothing but problems with Colibris my entire life. I've had 6 of them and they just kill me. Look and feel great but after about 6 months they fail to light. Blow out with air, clean, still nothing. Send back to Colibri for overhaul, 3 months later same problem. I will never own another Colibri.
Sigaar Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Somewhat more than $100, but love my IM Double Corona lighter. It's a soft flame, which I prefer if I'm away from the wind. 3
skalls Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Cuban crafter perfect cutter and a prometheous magma triple the torch lighter. Both cam be had for 100-110 total. 1
TheLiquidGator Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 You can find a nice Dunhill roll gas from the 1970's for about 50 bucks if it is not working. I know a guy that services them for 45.00. They come back working as new. Very nice high quality lighters. If anyone wants the guys contact info just send me a PM. He has serviced three of them for me and they are all very nice. He lighty polishes them too. 2
Colt45 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Zippo with vector thunderbird soft and / or jet flame inserts. Wenger swiss army cigar cutter.
msm1771 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 St dupont maxi jet and cuban crafters perfect cutter Sent from my 86" White Testarossa Google the lighters and you'll find them immediately for 150+- and the cutter is like 10-20$. Xikars are great if you wanna spend a little more, but not necessary imo. The cuban crafters perfect cutter is really imo the perfect cutter. Sure you can get a cheaper lighter but I love the duponts. They are virtually windproof which is irrelevant because if it's that windy out I just wont smoke. I personally use that prometheus flint torch lighter. It is super super thin and easy to carry in the pocket.

stogieluver Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I have so many crap lighters I've about given up on finding a reliable one. The only brand I haven't sprung for yet is ST Dupont. Colibri is crap. Xikar is crap. And quality fuel in NOT the issue. I was recently gifted a beat up Jetline lighter that lit every time, so I bought a new one. Those are super cheap, at less than $25 per, but I swear these have been pretty good so far. Time will tell. There are lots of lighter threads you can search for on this forum that may help. Dupont seems to get good reviews by members here. I may have to spring for one of those if these Jetlines let me down. 1
dangolf18 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 For $200, Dupont minijet and a generic xikar cutter.
jabster Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Im guessing you're a bit of a baller and appreciate the finer things in life. So I give you http://www.forge-de-laguiole.com/en/complementary-series/58-coupe-cigare.html As for lighter, cedar spills are all you will be able to afford after this one! 1
TheLiquidGator Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I'd love to find one of those lighters! My go to lighter is a DuPont Maxijet. Great torch, gas lasts a long time before it needs a refill. They are not hard to find at all. They come in many styles. The guy that does the service is actually a medical doctor. He just does it as a hobby. Find one on Ebay that is in good cosmetic condition, but NOT working. They are very high quality and will last a lifetime, but will need servicing about every 5-10 years. the seals just dry out.
Boosted Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 For the price range, I'd have to recommend the IM Corona Double Corona lighter and the Xikar MTX scissors. 3
Lotusguy Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Lots of people in the German forum swear by the Lotus 52 lighter. I stick to my X-Tend.
PapaDisco Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Lots of people in the German forum swear by the Lotus 52 lighter. I stick to my X-Tend. X-tend? Do tell . . . http://www.newlibido.com/male-enhancement-pill.htm 2
Lotusguy Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 X-tend? Do tell . . . http://www.newlibido.com/male-enhancement-pill.htm In that department, nothing beats the original blue pill
RijkdeGooier Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 For that price I'd recommend the DuPont Slim new jet and a good knife
Guest rob Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Not trying to be a smart arse, but I won't spend money on expensive lighters and cutters anymore. So bloody frustrating, and the job they do is not commensurate with the investment. After many hundreds of dollars spent on Xikars, Prometheus, Colibri and other name brands.... I now use a Stanley box cutter, and a Costco BBQ lighter. I **** you not. These are uber reliable, never fail, and if I drop them they still work. Also makes me feel 'at one' with the simplicity of what a cigar is at it's core - rolled tobacco leaves, with no added or unnecessary ingredients.
Duxnutz Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 My most consistent have been $5 Ronson single flames. Wish I could find where I put the couple I bought. 1
jholen Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I personally use that prometheus flint torch lighter. It is super super thin and easy to carry in the pocket. This lighter rocks! My favorite thus far - would highly recommend it. Prometheus Retro Torch.

Lant63 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Honestly, up it to $250, get a palio double guillotine, and a ST dupont xtend from atlantic cigar . com You will never look back. I love mine. Or, as some mentioned, a hold regiales dunhill, I love mine as well. All very reliable.
