My favourite night of the year, it's always soggy underfoot with a carpet of red leaves and the air is full of the slightly sweet aroma of them rotting down.

Every town has numerous huge bonfires with various public hate figure of the time perched on top. Big barrels of ale, BBQ and fireworks.

It's incredible that the occasion of Guw Fawkes Night never looses it magic from childhood.

The naff plastic sentiment that has storing up in recent years after V for Vendetta never penetrated here and the whole occasion still has an age old charm.

Cheers to all and if you can't get to a celebration here's to your favourite hate figure going up in flames with a huge cheer from the crowd!

I Love bonfire night, always takes me back to great memories of my childhood. It was always a big get together at home where everyone would bring fireworks and try to out do each other. I'm Setting off my stash of pyro a day late tonight, can't wait.

The Fifth of November

Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

"I know of no reason why the Gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!" Sadly, we forgot, here in Australia, in the 1980s. Cracker night was always fun when I was a kid.
