Kenny G.jpg I doubt he could offer anything useful on Pol Roger champagne and Romeo y Julieta Churchill cigars! P.S. Well done Ken! john, i suspect that he could afford a hell of a lot more of both than i can. this is a fun column to do as i get to see lots of pointy end stuff. trust me, articles on budget savvy blanc are hell, for anyone thinking this is all peaches and cream. 2
LordAnubis Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Hey Ken, question, when you say JJFox was Churchills retailer of choice, can i ask where you got this information? It's interesting all the rumours that go around about churchill and cigars!!! I ask because from what i heard Churchill went out of his way to not be associated with a single retailer purely so that no one could take advantage of his name associated with said store. (This i got from someone you know well no doubt while i was herfing with a few blokes on St James St last time i was in town).

LordAnubis Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Fair enough, not meaning to stir anything, an easy google search anywhere says heaps of different things. I always wonder why an industry as small as the cigar industry (its not corporate banking!) has so many rumours about once single man. Ultimately it doesn't matter at all. We jsut keep on rolling with the rumours. The last one i liked hearing about was how Churchill wasn't in fact the one who initiated the churchill cigar vitola. I can't remember the story now, but it was something different, again heard at an even on St James St

I can't remember the story now, but it was something different, again heard at an even on St James St The julieta vitola (named "churchill" later) was created for Georges Clémenceau, french Président du Conseil (=First Minister) from 1906 to 1909, and 1917 to 1920. The RyJ "Clémenceau" could still be found in the vintage market in the late 90's. 1
madandana Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice article Ken. Maybe Foxy could comment on the subject ??
LordAnubis Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 As a member of the Churchill family I can concur regarding JJ Fox. We have numerous receipts in the family archives. Holy cow!!! Nice! Can i ask you then about what you guys do about all the rumours? Is a lot of the stuff out there just not really known? Or do you try to keep the legacy open so that it inspires people in multiple ways?
MIKA27 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 The Kings Ginger - Sounds funny when you say it out loud .. but I'm intrigued
Smallclub Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 As a member of the Clémenceau family I can concur regarding… what was the question again? 1
