ShortFatHokie Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Smoked this one today...VERY NICE! By far, best of the five cigars in the tasting. I'll post more later...
DrunkenMonkey Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) Does anyone have an accurate ring gauge measurement of this cigar? Mine got squished a bit in transit, so it's sort of oval. never mind, I guess it has to be 52. Edited August 19, 2015 by DrunkenMonkey 1
potpest Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Smoked mine a while back. From memory it was all over the place, tasted different on nearly every draw and I could barely work out any flavours beyond some coffee and maybe some cocoa. I'm clueless.
GavLew79 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I'm 0 from 4 so lets see if can get the full Duck. By far and away the best cigar of the 5. Pearler. Cracker. Beaut. My note said: Sweet milky coffee. Baking spice. Lemon meringue? Gains leather and spice. Stunner. 95/100 I actually don't give a monkeys if I'm wrong on this one, there's no way I'm winning. I would like to have more though. Lovely cigar.
santela Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Just smoked mine. Had a pretty strong hunch what this cigar is before I even lit it, and it was confirmation bias the whole time I was smoking it.
Tino Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Where has August gone? Away this weekend, going to be smoking this one on the deadline again...
fingerburner Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Smoked mine this afternoon. Lovely. Best of the 5 for mine. Had a strong opinion on it from the get go, just hope I'm right...
warren516 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I smoked this over the weekend and found it all over the place. I couldn't pick out anything about it. I'm guessing that my taste buds were on vacation that day.
melies Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Forgot to post my photo, I loved this cigar! The best of the tasting for me, almost sure what it is, but if I don't get it, I still Will buy more boxes! Thanks for a great experience 3
Popular Post Rye Posted September 4, 2015 Popular Post Posted September 4, 2015 I smoked this one last weekend. Almost blotchy oily wrapper. Spongy foot and a couple soft spots along the body of this pyramides. Feint spices and tobacco smell at the foot. Cut small as I thought it may be a loose one and ignited with a cedar spill. Smooth smoke at the beginning and mild-medium body. Baking spices and toasted tobacco Strong ash held the entire first third and it rolled off with a snap when I was getting worried about wearing it. Burn was wavy and needed just some OCD calming touch ups. Hit a bit of a rough patch just after the half, but a good flaming purge seemed to get it back on track, but with darker flavours. Strength increased in the back half but never stronger then a medium level. Baking spice has remained throughout the entire cigar and while there was some progression to the cigar, not a lot of change. Some leather and wood flavours toward the end Good cigar, but I didn't get the wow factor that many seem to have with this one. Perhaps it was the softer roll on mine, but nub-worthy still. Big thanks to Rob & Lisa for keeping this unique and humbling experience going. Thanks to @bradbrennan @Melies @Laynard @Optic101 for talking me into doing this again for one more year. Cheers, Rye 5
Habanos2000 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Cigar #5 for me also had a blotchy wrapper. Construction looked good and over all the flavors were fairly middle of the road, leather with suggestions of milk and cinnamon. Not much change until the last third which became noticeably stronger. I'd give it an 89. Thanks to the Czar crew for putting on another fun Blind Cigar Challenge!

ShortFatHokie Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Smoked this one today...VERY NICE! By far, best of the five cigars in the tasting. I'll post more later... Now that the cigar has been revealed, here are my tasting notes... First 1/3: First couple of puffs...PARTAGAS!!! Wow, what's that? Creamy coffee, then COCOA!!! LOTS of cocoa!!! Never had this in a Partagas before...VR or Monte??? Second 1/3: One word...COCOA!!! Definitely VR... Final 1/3: Cocoa fades to black coffee. Yep, VR. Guess I was wrong!
potpest Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Now that the cigar has been revealed, here are my tasting notes... First 1/3: First couple of puffs...PARTAGAS!!! Wow, what's that? Guess I was wrong! This is pretty similar to what I thought. Pure chocolate/cocoa for the 1st third, was thinking Monte or VR, had a few puffs that i thought could be Partagas towards the back end of the 2nd third then the last third was just a bit hot and dirty.
