Popular Post El Presidente Posted July 30, 2015 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2015 It is disappointing that such things happen but I need to bring it to FOH members attention. The Cigar world is full of scammers. Let’s see if we can expose one in order that no one else here (or other boards) get taken. Che10 joined FOH in October 2014. Never made a post but earlier this month/late last month he spammed numerous members with the offer to sell cigars. He is from www.puroscuba.com based in Costa Rica. Che10 was banned immediately upon members letting me know he had sent them a PM. It was a scumbag act. Unfortunately one of our members purchased two boxes from Che10 who is www.poroscuba.com. 5x5 Carton Pack of Cohiba Siglo VI JUN 2011. 1 Box of H. Upmann Monarcas FEB 2014. Both boxes are obviously fake. I will let you point out the reasons why. Our member went back to them (name: Bryan [email protected] ) with a series of questions and seeking his money back. The responses: Cuban Cigars 100% authentic. Fact in Cuba. Handmade. We not sell cigars fake. You received seals, hologram and stamp. Cohiba Siglo VI send tube of carton became out of stock. H.Upmann Monarcas in box. You must not written in forum. You signed document anti fraud . The news box of 2014 only send 3D out of stock. You received your cigars. And All Cuban cigars are 100% original we bought to dealer Habanos SA in Costa Rica. You only smoke a cigar is known whether original or not. In reference to Cuba National Stamps don’t have barcode It is that the cigars are bought without taxes and the government has not charged him tax. When a country's tax burden cigar box, are obliged to put the barcode. We have been selling cigars 5 years and are all originals if you want can compare with a cigar box in his country. Regards So a member is out of pocket. A scammer by way of www.puroscuba.com rolls on to ply his trade on another unsuspecting soul. Pass on the word and let’s see if we can put a serious dint in his trade. I do apologise for not putting up a post when I was made aware he had sent PM’s. While I banned him immediately, I didn’t check out his links or take a cursory look at his product listing. If I had it would have been obvious to me what he was selling. I had just assumed it was a retailer hitching a ride through a low act. Again, apologies for not taking the time to investigate further and posting a general warning. I hope no one else was taken. There are plenty of good online dealers in the world. Behind the scenes we are working on the FOH Classifieds project which is in final testing (by end users) now. It is where people I trust (including cigar retailers) can offer products and services to FOH members. As a rule of thumb, Central and South American online retailers are not where you would be wanting to be sourcing your cigars. Cheers Rob 5
Maplepie Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Ouch. Dislike. With a bit better sticker placement, those boxes would be the best I've ever seen. Also, what would this mean: ? You must not written in forum. You signed document anti fraud . Does that mean that he is restricted by posting his findings online or face retaliation for signing a "document anti-fraud"?
NCPANTHERZFAN Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 That sucks. Sorry to hear about that. 2011 Siglo VI with holographic band? SMH.
glassbase Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Crazy, I am always so cautious about vendors choosing to only deal with a couple after loads of research on the net. Feel sorry for the guy beyond the band on th Cohiba, no bar code whatsoever, and poor placement of labels. Any other telltale signs?
Habana Mike Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Amazes me how these shysters always seem to have Cohiba 1966, 50 cabs of BPC, Diplo #3, VR Clasicos, SP Molinos and other discontinued and/or very hard to find in stock - first red flag every time. Prices are usually the second one. Thanks for outing this guy!
Smallclub Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The non tubed Monarch was discontinued in 2006 or 2007… and I believe the name printed on the dress box was "Monarcas", not "Monarch"… How long does it take to check these infos when you're not sure?
btp1979 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Damn, not that I needed another reason to be a single source buyer but it certainly makes the decision easier.
Pixa Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Part from the bands, seals and date issue actually pretty good fakes. Though no one is getting a real box from costa rica. Anyone with a website listed there is going to send you fake cigars 1
El Presidente Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Also, what would this mean: ? Does that mean that he is restricted by posting his findings online or face retaliation for signing a "document anti-fraud"? I suspect that was the intent. Bizarre indeed.
scottyfwil Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Thanks for your diligence and for keeping us informed, Prez. Much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
avaldes Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Smallclub, they used both Monarch and Monarcas on boxes in the past. While I believe they were the same cigar, there were many people at the turn of the century that were convinced otherwise. Just like finding boxes of Ramon Allones Especially Selected. Lots of people thought they were different cigars from RASS.
avaldes Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 PS - May the blood suckers die of Gonorrhea and rot in hell!! 1
El Rushbo Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Been here for 10 years. Never had the need or desire to look elsewhere. 2
KGM Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Hope somebody still has time to dispute the charges with their CC company.
Mr.T Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Thanks, Prez! No kidding, I actually was planning on smoking my 07 Upmann Monarch A/T from our gracious hosts tonight! And I stress 07...07...as someone pointed out these were discontinued well before 2014...thanks for watching out for all of us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
JohnS Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 That sucks. Sorry to hear about that. 2011 Siglo VI with holographic band? SMH. Indeed. Holographic bands on Cohiba commenced in 2012 on Piramides Extra cigars. In 2014 other Cohiba marcas followed suit.
