Are 50 cabs still the way to go?

Not seen the erdm in a while

Bolivar cg are discontinued

Trini fundadores you sure never heard of a 50 cab

Ah, correct on the CG.

Plenty of Trinidad 50 cabs from the 1998 release up through 2006 though they're quite scarce these days.

What's not to like?

There just isn't anything prettier. Oh, and they smoke pretty good too.

Cabs all the way when available. Rob mentioned a few months ago that he generally finds RASS 50 Cabs to be superior to their dress box counterpart. I tend to agree.

The thing about 50 cabs is that the factory has to bundle 50 cigars of the same shade together. Usually this tends to result in more consistent cigars throughout.

I would repeat that Rob has noted that most 50 cabs are better quality than the same cigars in dress boxes or 25 cabs.

Yeah, but he also said that they just disappeared around 4 months ago.

No arguing or offence here I prefer cabs myself but a psp is a psp no matter what box is in. Quality- wise no difference in psp cab or psp dress box. I beleive he meant to say he finds more crap in dress boxes than in cabs but again a psp is a psp. Also note that there are lot more dress boxes out there, obviously more craps...

Very nice. I've been looking for a good quality RASS 50 cab. Rob hasn't seen any in a long while ..

That's what I meant, we're saying the same thing.

It is just a little harder to smoke that first cigar from a 50 cab, I find.

That's actually my favorite part. I pull out the wheel by the ribbon and push out the center most cigar from the rest. I know others that prefer the outer most smokes especially if there's a dent caused by the ribbon. Ritualistic behavior at it's best, I suppose.

I'm one of those ritualistic :) The knot cigar was always most coveted, until they started putting a piece of light cardboard to prevent it. Still get an occasional one though.

What is the reason for the cardboard under the knot, and what does it prevent? I've been wondering that for a while now.

To prevent the crimp (indentation) put on the cigar immediately under where the knot is tied in the ribbon. I've yet to experience a draw or burn problem from this dented cigar.

Thanks, that had been bugging me.

ok I'm convinced. Looks like I'll be watching the 24:24 for any 50 cabs from this point forward. Time to look for a bigger humidor :)
