Orion21 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I just can't believe it. A second friend, in as many years, has been killed while riding his motorcycle. Ryan was 34 with a wife and two little kids. The investigation is ongoing, but all we know is that he was taking an on-ramp onto the freeway and he somehow collided with a box truck. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away. Please, please be careful if you ride. Even then it may not be enough to save your life. RIP my friend. You will be greatly missed!!!! http://wivb.com/2015/05/25/chairman-of-music-is-art-killed-in-motorcycle-accident/ 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 So sorry to hear about your friend. My heart goes out to all his friends and family. I ride and it's crazy out there.
Geo17pip Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 So sorry to hear. As a rider myself its important to always be as careful as you can be but however that doesnt stop other drivers around you. Carzy enough I was driving my car yesterday stopped at a light and saw one of my buddys on his bike with his girl take a turn too wide hop a curb and wipe out. I got out and rushed to help them, but they were fine thankfully. Could have been much worse. He was a new rider so no experience. Good thing I happened to be there to help them from under the bike.
CUBANO Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Sorry to hear about your friend. Gave up riding 25 years ago because of a few close calls. I also had a wife and young kids at the time and it wasen't worth it.
Larsy Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Very sorry to hear this. Fellow rider myself. Sorry for your loss
Guest rob Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Very sad to hear this. My sincerest condolences to his family.....heartbreaking. I've modified my riding habits, and no longer venture out during busy traffic periods, and limit my time on roads to quiet times only. Drivers are so distracted by everything these days, and I don't want to be out there among any more than necessary.
JohnS Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I pass on my condolences too. My brother-in-law and a close friend are bike riders and your friend's sad circumstances serve as a kind reminder of the dangers of what can happen.
KRunch61 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Very sorry to hear about your friend. My brother is on his return trip biking from NY to Vegas. Definitely worry about his safety.
Stanislaw Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 That's terrible news, sorry for your loss... and judging by the article, it was a loss to society as well...
TheFullMontecristo Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Live to ride...ride to live. Anyone who has ridden a motorcycle especially in City centres know all too well the risks out there especially from distracted careless drivers. Still, for many the will to ride out weighs the level of risk. I hung up my helmet years ago after 20 years and much road rash and near death experiences. 1
bugg4672 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Sorry to hear that, you and your friends family is in my prayers. I dont ride a motorcycle but I do cycle, most people in cars do not care about either.
El Presidente Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 So sorry to hear mate and sincere condolences. I am on the cusp of purchasing a new motorbike now but I have to say experiences such as this tempers my enthusiasm.
Ken Gargett Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 very sorry to hear it. sometimes surprised that there are not more tragedies on bikes. i remember as a little kid on the school bus, a bike rider pulled alongside us (on coro drive for brizzy-ites). took off in the morning traffic. i remember, and no idea why i thought this at the time, thinking i wonder who he is, what does he do, what about his friends/family etc etc (i don't ever remember thinking that about any other stranger. anyway, he took off. five minutes later we got to a set of lights where the traffic was all stopped. ambulances and police sirens howling. this same guy was the victim of a horrendous smash. never found out exactly what happened or who to blame. first time i had seen anyone who had passed away. has stuck with me ever since and put me off bikes for life.
manny816 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 So sorry for your loss. I am a rider myself and was in a bad motorcycle accident 4 years ago. I am still dealing with residual issues today. I almost lost my right foot. Dr's were able to save it and I will never be 100%. I did end up buying another bike. I am a lot more careful now. I wont give it up. I love to ride.
ToroRph Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Bad times. So sorry for your loss and for his poor family. Condolences.
samuelsmithbeer Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 My condolences. A horrible thing to happen to him and his family. Life can change in a blink of am eye.
MIKA27 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Not good news and condolences. All roads these days are becoming far more congested than they ever were, dependant on where you live, there may be less physical policing (Melbourne) so you tend to get a great many bad drivers who are not being policed so not only have you more cars on the road, but also very bad drivers not checking and running into cyclists and motor bikes. I agree, everyone needs to be careful nowadays.

I ride my bike to work daily too and like most riders, have encountered few close calls. My condolences to the thread starter.
Laxman Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Sorry to hear. Have lost a few friends over the last 7 years. South Florida is a dangerous place to ride a bike. You wouldn't think it as it is flat as glass but with all the senior citizens on the road it is a crap show.
leftimatic Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. My heart goes out to you and his family. When it comes to riding or driving or even walking for that matter, no matter how careful we are things can happen. Think I'll give the kids and wife an extra big hug next time I go for a ride.
Stogieninja Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I've wanted a bike since I was 8 or 9, but got married young, before I had a chance, then started a family, and now at 31, with five beautiful kids, I just can't risk it. My kids need their daddy too much for me to risk it all for a thrill. Condolences on your loss, my heart goes out to his family.
Squarehead Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Sorry to hear that Aaron and my condolences as well as to the family.
tmac77 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 My heart goes out to you, your friend and his family Aaron.
