No. You know that a larvae was in your cigar when you see one or several holes (round or elongated) and/or some black dust falls from the foot of the cigar. Spot on Frank I came across this yesterday. In years gone by the entire box would be shredded and other cases within the mastercase affected. It would have been a serious problem. In this case it was a beetle boring out in the period between the factory and the HSA freezing rooms. I'm okay with seeing odd holes every now and again because it tells me that we are still enjoying a natural product and not something that's got additives, chemicals or the like to "enhance" quality... The day they start treating the leafs with chemicals I say just start machine rolling everything and precut or punch the head for us. The day the beetles leave I leave. I'm not talking about cigars that got beetle holes while in your care, but ones that came in new boxes of Habanos with a box dates later than 2005 (correct me if wrong, but I believe I read that's when Habanos started freezing cigars). My heart stopped for a minute and from that point forward I freeze everything as soon as it comes in. It sets me back a few day before I can indulge but it gives me a peace of mind. You can use the hole like a carburetor. Even if there is larva or a bug in it, its extra flavor, hell all the food we eat has a certain amount of insect in it anyway, so shot smoke the bugger. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
