The top two movies released in the last two years for a wet weekend? 1) Interstellar by Christopher Nolan 2) The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson The top two pics of all time? This is especial

Whiplash and Interstellar were the best two movies that I saw recently. Shawshank Redemption is always one that I get sucked into whenever it is on TV. Predator is another classic when I need an act

I have to agree with both of those. Grand Budapest is truly marvelous.

If you'd like fun, light action I would recommend:

"Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman. I LOVE the approach that was made toward all these famous monsters of yesteryear in this film. It was fun, it was good, it was respectful and insightful...it wasn't self-righteous or too dead serious. There was humor, humor, humor! VERY formidable Dracula brides; these dames weren't just huddled in a corner and hissing through long teeth like in Hammer films. Oh, no! Just one of Drac's brides was formidable enough and able enough to handle Van Helsing, the mighty Romania heroine, the villagers, AND bull farm animals single handed! So you KNOW what Drac, himself, was like in this! And, El Pres, this is an almost all Australian actor cast. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Next: 1955's Humphrey Bogart/Fredrick March vehicle, "The Desperate Hours". MAN, what a movie! Bogie's got Fredrick's helpless family held hostage by his newly escaped prison gang. The family has to strainedly pretend that all is well to the public while they're being held at gunpoint by Bogie and his big, bad psychopathic partner and his own little brother. DON'T BOTHER with the remake from the 1990's. THIS one will be edge of your seat excellent, and very, very, VERY well made.

Finally: Frank Miller's (Robert Rodriguez's) Sin City, either one or two or BOTH. EXCELLENT excitement and adventure. I LOVE MARVIN (effectively played by Mickey Rourke), Miho and Dwight. Part two, "Sin City, A Dame to Kill For" (Eva Green), is just as enjoyable. I just can't watch that enough! Dennis Haysbert (the Allstate spokesman) has taken the place of the one golden eyed henchman from the late Michael Clarke Duncan. These films truly are a Man's man's film - and very appealing to us women folk too.

I hope these suggestions will be of some use for you as far as "wet restrained" entertainment sought! Take care, El Presidente`!

I'm glad you mentioned it Ken!

The top two movies released in the last two years for a wet weekend?

1) Interstellar by Christopher Nolan

2) The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson

Couldn't agree more John both top movies in there own way

Loved Interstellar real world physics at play here ,make you think of the big picture

Or the LOTR trilogy and the Hobbit series should keep you busy for a least a day !

That's right Steve, these films are very different. For those of us who follow sport we can understand and reflect on athletes who are in 'form' and are at the 'top of their game' (to use a cliche). In the same way, Christopher Nolan and Wes Anderson have been putting out high quality movies for years that reflect their styles. For Nolan, it really kicked off with Memento, starring Guy Pearce, the type of film that is a riddle and holds your attention until the very end. Nolan's films all have this style. For Anderson, Rushmore, starring Jason Schwartzmann, who played a quirky lead character who is an outsider, yet has an influence on everything that goes on around them. Similarly, Anderson's film all have this style (even the animated adaption of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox).

Withnail & I. No matter the weather...

A cult film from the 80's that all film lovers should see at least once!

So many movies out there, so few rainy weekends :)

Big Wes Anderson fan here... Can't go wrong with The Grand Budapest Hotel, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited and others...

Inception has been mentioned quite a bit. Limitless is quite nice too. Guardians of the Galaxy is a must and the first Matrix kicks ass.

The first Fast and Furious was quite nice...

The colour purple and Out of Africa haven't been mentioned yet :)

Nothing wrong with Lost in Translation or Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Enjoy!

Recent would be American Sniper and just because I saw it last week and the story was amazing Water Diviner. All time is tough as I love so many movies. Off the top of my head Godfather is must, have seen more times then I can count and love it every time. Caddyshack would be the second just because I still quote lines from that movie often.

Anything from the Marvel cinematic universe is pretty high on our list. But we also have young kids so anything truly "adult" is out. I also really loved Inception. The Oceans 11-13 movies can be good if you are in the right mood. Maybe geek it out with the new Star Trek movies? They are pretty good.

Just loop these two continuously.....

I've seen some crap movies the last 2 years, so all I can offer from the last 2 years Rob is St Vincent, with Bill Murray.

Really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed "Fury" and "Her" recently.

All time classics, I second Goodfellas and Heat.

Dallas Buyers Club too. Great.

P.S. Jim Jarmusch's masterpiece.

Last 2 years:

Wolf of wall street

Interstellar

All time:

Change tin cup out for God father 2 or the good bad ugly.

But really just watch Heat twice.
