Popular Post El Presidente Posted April 27, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 27, 2015 I saw it happen again last week. For the love of God, take the cigar in one hand and use the torch to light it or relight it with the other hand. Don't raise the torch to light or touch up a cigar that is in your mouth! I have lost count on the deck of the number of times I have seen mates try to light the last 2 inches of a cigar with my table lighters by putting 1000 degree + centigrade flame to their mouth. Add a few too many wines/beers and it can get ugly. Add the fact that even if you are "on your game" your lighter may decide to throw a 3 inch flame. If you are lucky it is just painful. if you are not lucky then you can do some serious damage. It is common sense I know but a reminder after last weeks near catastrophe is worth while. 5
El Presidente Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Smitty going browless? Wasn't Smithy But a mate of mine almost went lipless and missed reconstructive surgery by millimeters.
kuma Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Wow I guess it could happen to any one of us. My thing is I burn sometimes a finger or two from inattention or the hairs on top of my fingers. Again inattention while either driving or riding my bike has almost coast myself dearly. With my pedal bike going about 2 miles an hour I was trying to light the last 2 or 3 inches of a CigarCzar PSP something or the other and while steering the bike with one hand I attempted to relight the cigar in the same hand (left) as was I steering. Well somehow the front wheel turned into me and wah la over the handlebars I went crashing my left side of my head and face to the black top road. Luckly just the leftside of my face took most of the damage (no damage to the eyesocket or teeth) which was a good news after going to hospital. Black and blue for sometime. Ticket while on highway for eating, phone use (talking to my plumber) and attempting to relight another one of Rob's great smokes. What say you any bad experiences while relighting.
OZCUBAN Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Hope he didn't end up like this my table top lighter I picked up from Singapore would probably do this as well

polarbear Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 A good mate of mine tried lighting his cigar with a map-gas torch He shielded to the cigar from the wind (why, I don't know) before striking the torch A 6 inch flame came out of the torch and almost burned a hole through the palm of his hand He ended up needing a skin graft. Jet torches are nothing to F$%k around with

saintsmokealot Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Another tip: DO NOT refill the lighter with a cigar in your mouth! I saw a friend do this and the mist caught flame. It looked like an explosion from an action flick!
Scroats Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 It's always a good reminder. I was at my B&B this weekend actually, went to relight a cigar and the flame sputtered up, caught me off guard. I'm guilty of using torch to cigar in mouth, and sometimes I forget to even light well away from the face.
Quint Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 See it many times myself Prez, people getting a nice buzz going, swaying a bit and putting the ole torch lighter inches away from nose and face to light a 2 inch cigar. Surprised more accidents do happen.
Blakes Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 If you want to see how not to light a cigar with a torch lighter watch a Sautter cigar review on youtube!
