Attractive chocolate brown wrapper. Smooth touch and oily sheen with few veins. It’s a great size: 48 x 140

Construction spot on. Perfect triple cap.

Substantial amount of ligero leaf visible in the bunch

Quick clip and test draw. Firm but manageable.

Sweet cocoa, compost and on the cold draw

Bouquet of cedar and stable

Soft flame rapidly ignites and we’re off.

Mouthful of rich, creamy and oily smoke. Fuller side of medium strength.

Chocolate, dark chocolate – 90% cocoa-like chocolate with just a touch of sweetness.

Light white pepper on the retrohale. Leather and raw walnut notes intermingle.

First ash drops 30 minutes in as the initial third wraps up with the chocolate fading and some earthiness entering the equation. Dirty grey, firm and compact. Burn is Razor sharp and flawless.

Paired now with a fine Porto brings out richer earth notes, cocoa, sweet leather. Strength north of medium with a little kick. Still some light white pepper going on. Good smoke production.

As the curtains open on the third act about an hour in strength picks up, smoke volume increases and some dark red fruit notes make an appearance. Turning a bit tannic now.

Wow, some sweet chocolate creeps back in toward the finish. A solid 90 minute cigar.

I’ve smoked a handful of these so far and, while this one was quite good, I’ve had a couple that were just amazing. This one I’d rate a 91, the others closer to 96.

HSA has been on a roll with their Bolivar special editions. The La Casa cigar is amazing and this seems to be right in line! I think I will have to invest in a couple of boxes because I'm a huge fan of the Marca. Great review!

great review Mike maybe I missed it but is that port in the glass or just a red wine a sort?

Port brother. Sandeman Founders Reserve, inexpensive but quite good.

Nice review Mike! Really looking forward to trying this cigar. I'll also have to grab some Port...any suggestions?

Like CoCigarSmoker said, 10 year old Tawnies are a great place to start. Taylor Fladgate, Grahams, Dow, Fonseca - all decent.

Of course you could step out with Rubies or LBV, beyond that you get in to the vintage stuff which can start reasonably and skyrocket depending on your pocketbook......

Note that that there's some really good Port styles coming out of Oz these days!
