Van55 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Is there some way to "optimize" the pages on this forum so that I can see all of a message on the screen at the same time? For some reason the right sides of messages are off the "page" when I try to see them along with the identity of the author. Thanks.

Van, It may be because your screen resolution is set too low. This website should be optimized for 800X600 pixels. I have mine set at 1152X864 and see everything fine. To do this: Right click on your desktp. Go into properties. Go into Settings. Change your screen res. Hope that works man.

I use firefox on a mac, and my screen resolution is at 1280 x 960, so I don't think resolution is the problem. It seems that the frame width for the message area does not resize below about 800 pixels, so the window has to be set very wide on my screen. Not a huge problem, but it would be nice if there was some way to change it.
habanohal Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I am mostly comp0uter illiterate. But mine is fine. If I have a problem I just ask my 7 yr old boy to fix it... :-D
Mel Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I have the same problem on the computer at the house. I do not use it much cause is tisa to slow, the wifew also complains about me spending so much tieme away from her. The one here at the office is fine.

Raney, check your web feature prefs - the resize window pref. I'm using Camino, but the prefs are similar. Also, have you tried using safari as a comparison? As the others have stated, it's usually a monitor res issue.

I cannot find anything in the firefox prefs that addresses this. Firefox works fine for everything else I've ever used, so I guess this is just a strange interaction between this particular forum software and firefox. Strange, but I will use safari for FOH from now on. Thanks for the tip! Van, are you using firefox by any chance?
Colt45 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 » ... I will use safari for FOH from now on. Have you tried Camino? It's mozilla's OSX only browser. It's the fastest of any browser I've tried.
Ginseng Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I use Safari with a monitor that is displaying at 1152 x 870. I have the same problem. But not all the time. I'd say 90%. Wilkey

I'd say 90%. » » Wilkey I've noticed that this problem occurs when the titles of threads are too long. For example, the thread "Re: swan matches" doesn't do this because the title is relatively short. I'm using firefox and those are just my observations. I'm assuming it has to do with how the thread title block is designed. But... I could be wrong... so who knows :-)
cvm4 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Okay so I did have this problem but I switched the screen res. to 1024x768. Now I don't have to scroll back and forth to read the threads But, the letters are small as hell now! Even though I'm using IE and the text size is set on the largest setting :-( I might change it back...This is fuggin with my eyes too much. I probably need a bigger monitor then 15"
Ken Gargett Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 for me to even think about giving anyone tech advice is a scary thing for all but i had the same problem and solved it simply by, when i am on the forum, dropping my favourites list out. my screen normally sets up with these down the left but if you click the 'go away' button - yes, i'm sure there is a technical name for it but that will do - then the space for the forum fills the screen and i no longer have any problem.
Tampa1257 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Van, It is because you are old and have failing eye sight LOL Don't worry, because I am right behind you, but at least I had my resolution set correctly:ok:
shrink Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I probably need a bigger monitor then 15" Hmmm.... let's see: A new 19" LCD monitor: $700 A box of Cohibas: $400 Another credit card: Priceless!

If I blow out the windo with FOH, the scrolling issue disappears. Wilkey
Van55 Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 I'm using Microsoft IE Adujsting my screen resolution setting solved the problem for me. Thanks for the help.

Well, I find that by going to the DOS prompt, typing "format/F" then tossing the whole bastard out the window & buying a new one... works for me :-D MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL & to ALL a GOOD CIGAR
kab55 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Screen resolution, I run 1440x900 on a wide screen monitor with no problems.
joshua Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 This happens to me sometimes. I have a 1024x768 laptop at home but I like to leave the edges of my screen for seeing whos on my buddy list etc so I don't get the full width. At work my screen is too damn small to have a nice big resolution too, damn LCDs with their native resolutions.
