El Presidente Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I have always thought of the Upmann Number 2 as a cigar to lay down for that 5 year sleep. As with many cigars over the past few years, The Upmann Number 2 currently is smoking very well young. Let's see if we can get some opinions from members. Assuming a great box coded let's say LUB JUN 14 , Colorado maduro wrappers, great construction, perfect. From your experience what would be your expectation as to when they would be ready for you to smoke. Use the poll and expand upon your thoughts here. I will run a series of these polls on the the top 20 sellers and provide and then move them to the Poll section for future reference. It should prove a fruitful guide for others. Cheers! El Pres 1
garbandz Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The cigars from '08 to '10 seemed to need 3-4 years to come around for me. From '11 and '12...... 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years was the threshold. '13 and '14..........I expect the time to shine will be less than 3 years,My box of '13s is Nov '13.... I have a '14 box of PSP from a "fine fellow", that are tasty now,but I have high hopes for then in a couple of years..... check back with me in 12 months........
spirit Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Just picked up some of the recent PSP so looking forward to seeing how they go. My other boxes are 2011 and I think they are just coming into their own... I voted 3-5 years.
Skyfall Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I said 3-5, but I've had some fantastic fresh ones too.
MnMWC Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Just checked in on some SUB 12's that are almost there... I voted 3 to 5.
cpmurrin Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 i haven't had one fresh in awhile but the last box i had i did not like when fresh and it landed in the bottom of my humidor. tried them again after about 3 years and superb. sorry i smoked the ones i did when fresh 1
Laxman Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Three to five always works well. The last few years they have been pretty solid right out of the gates. Just smoked an 08 and 13 over the last few days. To me one of the most consistent cigars. Probably my favorite number 2.
anacostiakat Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Have always felt these need lots of time. But, in reviewing them with a FEB14 box (and other pyramids) I agree that these are much more approachable fresh and they have more of a kick to them than in the past from what I can remember.
Firebender Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Haven't tried my SUB 12 box yet. I will probably try one in the Summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
smpf67 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I prefer around 3 years of age, more throaty, rush of tobacco.
Ryan Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I have an odd thing about Upmann No. 2s. I smoke one a year from an '07 box and that is on my first night in Havana in the Salon de Historia bar in the Nacional where they make a very good mojito. They've been getting better and the one 3 weeks ago was fantastic. No signs of 'levelling off' or losing flavour.

I have a box of LUB FEB 14s on the way. Cant wait to test one out.
