LordAnubis Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm going to argentina at the start of April. Will have a few days in Buenos Aires and plan to go out to Iguassu Falls, El Calafate and Ushuaia. Anyone have anything they can really recommend in these places? Cigar related or not, just throw us your thoughts. If you are in fact located in this part of the world, i'd be more than happy to catch up with you as well!!

Habana Mike Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 We visited BA and El Calafate about 10 years ago. Stayed at the Design Suites Hotel, modern luxury and great views of the lake and mountains. There's also the Posada Los Alamos for rustic luxury and a great cigar-friendly lounge. The must-see there is the Perito Moreno Glacier, we went to the viewpoint one day and took a glacier boat tour on Lago Argentina the following. Couple of good restaurants were Mi Rancho and La Tablita, a parilla with great steaks. Full meal with apps, cocktails, decent wine was less than $60USD Lots to do, see and eat in BA. Neighborhoods to visit are La Boca, Recoleta and San Telmo for the local culture. Trendier Palermo Viejo/Soho. Puerto Madero and Las Cañitas for higher end dining and nightlife. El Presidente Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Mus As we discussed. If travelling alone, keep an above average guard late at night when heading home. I had a poor experience when the taxi dropped me short of my hotel. Car was following behind and as soon as I exited the taxi they were onto me within 10 metres looking for wallet and watch. I had a little bit too much booze under my belt to be sensible so scuffle and all good, made it to my hotel. I was lucky. BA is a beautiful city that I have been to a few times Still one of those cities more than most that you need to keep your wits about you.

Something about me being sober and able to make quick decisions as required. Also when I kick someone with my steel cap boots on, that has seemed to stop them dead in tracks pretty quickly I will never forget the sound my boots made the last time I got a got a good boot into the chest of the guy in Italy. It was like Donkey Kong. Kicked him and all the **** from his pockets fell out!
El Presidente Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Rolled 4 times in my life. Most effective was in Barcelona late at night in Las Ramblas. Something about cold steel to your neck that makes you give up your wallet and most anything else they ask for. Travel safe, travel smart. Live large. 1

Webbo Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 In Rio a few years ago I was held up at gunpoint near Ipanema beach. Foolishly I kicked the guy up the arse and sprinted off down the street, diving into the open window of a parked car 50 meters away ( much to the surprise of the family siting in there). I honestly don't know what came over me, it was like it was happening to someone else. Later back at the hotel a small part of me was a little proud that I had escaped the clutches of my foe (a la Bond), that was until a witness told me I ran off down the street shouting whooooooaaa, a la Scooby Doo. DOH!!

To keep the heat in. Like a space blanket!! The most awesomely science jacket I've ever seen. Just brilliant. My inner physics student was totally sold on it. It was an impulse buy.
