cigcars Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 *Two hostages dead and the gunman is dead. Been pre-emptive news on all cable news channels today. Lots of film footage of one hostage after another fleeing the scene. This self-styled Muslim cleric has a long police criminal record, apparently took the wrong black flag and asked for an ISIS flag to be brought to him And while this is going on we just had another hostage taking crisis going on in, I think Philadelphia, 3 dead there too I believe. They've been interspersing that news with this Australian hostage news so that they're practically melding in with each other! On the one hand I'm very glad that it's been quelled there with you guys, and I really do like the story Lisa gave us about some self-appointed "body guards" so to speak, to accompany people in religious attire and protect them from narrow minded people. That's very heart-warming. Thank you for that news, Lisa 1
Guest rob Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 It upsets me when innocent people die at the hands of disturbed people. No one wins. No one gains anything. Their days have been cut tragically and unnecessarily short.
headstand Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Sad and difficult time for three families.
Fuzz AI Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Tragic end. What really irks me is that the news are reporting three people have died during the siege. Personally, I think it's disrespectful to list the terrorist amongst his victims. 3
OleOle Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes, thoughts and prayers to the families of those hostages who perished and to all those involved; thank goodness more people didn't lose their lives. There's a very surreal sense in the city, things are kinda normal, but they're not, lots of people quite silent, walking around as if in a daze, disbelief probably, a delayed sense of shock too perhaps. It's overcast, cloudy, we need some rain to fall down, a metaphorical cleansing maybe... just a terrible day today here in Sydney.
El Presidente Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Condolences to the victims and their families of this heinous crime. Let the police/agencies now root out who he was speaking to, where any support came from, where the gun came from and screw all the bastards to the wall. 2
OZCUBAN Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So sad deepest condolences to the family's of the two hostages killed,RIP for the gun man NOTHING
Popular Post MIKA27 Posted December 15, 2014 Popular Post Posted December 15, 2014 It upsets me when innocent people die at the hands of disturbed people. No one wins. No one gains anything. Their days have been cut tragically and unnecessarily short. What is more disturbing and is a constant source of frustration for me is hearing that our laws allow such people out of jail. This terrorist was released on bail despite being an accessory to Murder!? WTF, seriously, what is wrong with the laws of this country? Had he have not been released, HE's AN ACCESSORY TO MURDER people, this would not have occurred. This is the same guy who also made contact with the families of killed Australian soldiers in Afghanistan, he sent them hate mail and was charged and released from custody... All this is known, I'd love to know on what grounds was he released on? Sure, there is always another fanatic out there but these people, especially those poor innocent two who have had their lives cut tragically short, would be celebrating Christmas in mere days. A tragedy in so many ways and I don't wish to spark debate, let's focus on this tragedy and be blessed we are all here alive, well and able to celebrate Christmas with our friends and family. Perhaps a silent prayer on Christmas day from us all to those two Lidt employees who have passed. Let's put the names and faces of the two who have been taken far too early and remember them today. It could have been anyone at any time. Tori Johnson Katrina Dawson - Mother of Three And let's not forget those who have lived but will inevitably be forever haunted by this incident. 5

I was also expressing this same thought Fuzz today - the media should've reported it separatly the two innocents one very courageous store manager and the other a mother from the gunman in ANY headlines.
LordAnubis Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Terrible end to the situation. Prayers to the families of the two innocent victims.
IPORTER Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Very sad ending. Just a terrible thing to happen. Prayers for the families......
