polarbear Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I'm a member of a number of other cigar boards Most are US based with a separate section dedicated to CC's Aside from this board and the Aussie one Mus already mentioned I find that most of the other cigar related boards are a haven for Trolls and general offensive banter This has to be one of the most well mannered cigar forums on the internet and I spend 60% of my time here 1
LLC Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Just curious here as FOH is a great resource with tons of knowledge and great people it seems most other boards I've come across are either more NC oriented, minimally trafficked, or full of wankers. Anyone recommend other boards where one can have a decent conversation about the hobby as it relates to Habanos in particular with a congenial membership? Wankers - love that word
1LegLance Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Well I go back to the days of alt.smoking.cigars before there was this inter-web thing we are playing on here... Yeah I am sure there are others who remember usenet boards and IRC as a way to chat. Then came some of the first websites and mailing list. Then came some forums like the one related to a US based magazine. Then came anothe that I loved but I went away for a few years (got into a cigar rut and other hobbies so didn't feel the need to post) and that forum kind of died off. Visited some other cigar forums and didn't enjoy them for reasons listed above about US based boards and paranoia. And lastly found this place and have been a happy camper. Best board, best people, best ownership with ownership participation. I can feel myself slipping into a cigar rut again but I know if I go away from this board for a few years it will be an even better place when I return. 1

soutso Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I found myself on other boards for one reason only - information. Whenever I had an issue, I'd consult a board. I got my info and moved on. Then during another 'crisis' my google search led me to FOH. My problem was solved and I've read the forum every bloody day since! I don't even know the name of the previous forums I went on.
mgravito Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I personally don't have a problem with any of the other boards I just love CC and here I can go for a real deep dive. Plus LFTW. I mean, seriously, the most fun you can have with a cigar besides smoking it.
1LegLance Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Lance what does this mean? Are you leaving us? Don't disappear! Nah I ain't going away...can't get rid of me that easy It is just the winter that keeps all you Northern USA folks trapped indoors is when us desert folks get out and explore. That means more time AWAY from a keyboard and more time smoking in the great outdoors. On the cigar front I got into branching out to a bunch of stuff I had not smoked in years in order to help some newbies I work with learn about Habanos. They have now settled into what they like and I am going back to what I know & love. That means less time on the forums searching and more time ordering the tried and true and enjoying those sticks. But as long as I have downtime at work I will find time to get on FOH and chat. 1
Hiroshiro Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Aren't we all here cause the rest of the Forums are Garbage? FOH for life! haha 2
kuma Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Halfwheel is a pretty good site and for a mag. I like Cigar Journal (Bilingual) Deutsch / English. 1
