Hay yall,

So I am currently in the middleast and found a box of these: box of 50 08 JLS 1 and 25 04 HUC 1. Which one do you suggest I grab? I am a big fan of Upmann (46 is my fave smoke + sir winston) but I also heard really good stuff about JL.

What box should I go for?

Corona gorda vs Hermoso No.4

I would go with the JL. Like them both but have a lot of conni 1. And I prefer corona gorda over any other size ;-)

All personal, not much help. No info about those 04, 08 years...

I am a fan of both cigars but IMO the Conni #1 is the better of the two. As a fellow Upmann fan the Conni #1 brings something to the table that is missing from a good number of other Upmann Vitolas. If you have not tried one then you are in for a treat.

Connie 1's have more class IMO. I like JL1's but if you like mag46 abd SW the connie 1 will not dissapoint.

I've never cottoned to juan lopez (not enough character for me), so I would definitely grab the connies. Assuming they've been stored properly for ten years, they should be teeming with that great upmann cream note.

Maybe it was discontinued. Sorry guys just going by CCW.

I believe the initial mistake is in the MRN.

I've NEVER saw one (online or in B&M), I don't know anyone who has or had one...

And the HSA vitolario doesn't mention it:

I have seen 50 Cabs of the JL #1 in Havana at Melia Habana LCDH.

Man if I was confronted with that situation I'd buy both! I don't think it would be hard to get rid if 5ers of each.

I enjoy JL and am a sucker for a 50 cab, so my vote would go to the JL1

If the box you're looking at turns out to be a 50 cab of JL2s (currently widely available in 50 cabs) I would still go with the JL

Customs allowance is 50 cigars while anything about that is suspect to scrutiny and extra---and I mean extra---taxes so this is a consideration. Having said that, if the funding allows, I'd buy both as most times quntities 100 or under are not scrutinize. Regardless, OP can't go wrong with 1 or the other. Both good.

10 year old Connie 1,s.....no brainer right? But then again any 10 year old box of any CC sounds good to me!

Personally I think the Connies would age a bit better than the JL's. You also have the added benefit of loving the Upmann line already, so those should be a nice little treat for you.

Does one get to inspect the box (cigars) on a purchase like this?
