I noticed a advertisment in the latest issue of CA which has the young Robaina lighting up a puro

made in Niccarague. It is his own brand called "Cubanacan" and goes on to say that at

choice platinum smoke shops including here on the east coast of the states "Nat Shermans"

which is located in the Manhattan , New York City. Has anyone tried these yet. Would be

very interested to hear a review of these smokes.

I've seen them at my local B & M where I smoke my CC's but not to keen on the NC's so I have not had one of them personally but I will be there tomorrow and ask about them and report back.

Widely available in my area. From the website you can find locations that have them.

Would be a treat if you could review one for our benefit (and for science's sake, of course :))

Wow could he Robaina have blended his private stock from his own farm and used

some filler or wrapper from Nicarague in the creation. Could see the potential for having a decent and

gifted smoke coming from Nic. with a price that is in line with the quality of the cigar.

Good luck HR!

I don't believe Hirochi is involved in the Cubanacan line. He has his own line (with the "HR" bands), and, according to a journalist of L'Amateur de Cigare who met him at the IPCPR in Vegas, he recently joined Omar Gonzales Aleman, owner of Cubanacan.

Sacrilege !!! But for the "Sake of Science" I could break down and give it a review and post in this thread.

Well boys spend a little coin go buy the mag. and see for yourself. He sure as hell

looks like he is more than remotely involved. Remember as things

stay the same they are always changing. Also this passes the ye ole "eye ball test"

yellow bill, waddles, quacks sure looks like a duck to me.

His own brand?..........

be careful, there is something to look out for.

anything sold by Thompsons is suspect in my book, and these are not Nica puros with a Sumatra wrapper.......

so Hirochi's stick is not sold at Thompsons........

What would be the details of his involvement with the cigar?

- lending is name for product promotion

- helping with the original blending

- helping with the tobacco/crop selection or QC

- endorsing the product as fitting his tastes

Or any other...

Mr. Hiroshi seems to me to be more than just a little involved with this enterprise from the way it is chartacterized in the CA.

advertisement. Looks like it is a duck, remember the eyeball test. So now the real hard questions should be asked.

Whose money, whose tabac, whose farm, who are the rollers, etc, etc, etc........

For cigars made in Esteli with tobacco from Nicaragua and Ecuador? What's the point? And who really cares? confused.gif

He isn't hiding anything and this isn't anything new. He was in Las Vegas at the IPCPR show promoting his HR cigars. He is working with that company, rolled in Nicaragua etc.

Can't wait to try them. Have a place in NY city that will have them soon. More curious than anything else.

Very much interested in smoking some and just asking a few questions my friends don't get so uptight.

Any of you find this interesting or intrguing?

By the way this is a little different than farmers who were run out of Cuba and began a new farm

somewhere else. This a man who has a current farm in Cuba and is endorsing Nic. tabac or what

ever he is doing! How does this make sense. You mean he is in competention with himself then.

According to L'Amateur de Cigare, which tested the toro/grand robusto size, they have nothing special, and lack "longueur en bouche" (ie aftertaste). Just an other nicaraguan cigar…

Ummm... yeah... no thanks. No matter how many times it's stated... being born in Cuba, having worked with Cuban tobacco, or using Cuban seed tobacco cannot allow someone to produce cigars that are as good as those rolled with actual Cuban grown tobacco. Some are still good cigars, but usually at a much higher price point.
