El Presidente Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Yes....I am referring to cigars I have friends who only purchase one type of cigar be it a Monte 2 or D4 etc. For the sake of of clarity, lets define "Cigar Monogamy" as a person who generally smokes the same cigar 8 out of 10 times. Who among you would categorise yourself as "Cigar Monogamists" and if so.....what is your partner of choice?
Yagermeister Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I am most definitely a cigar polygamist! I've got my favorites but I like variety! 2
Habana Mike Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Polygamist here as well. I imagine the only time I'd smoke 8/10 same cigars is if I've only got a single box and a couple of singles laying about
... Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 As with women, the concept has a lot of appeal but my endless curiosity seems to get the best of me 4

polarbear Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 My grandfather was a Monte 4 man for most of his life For him it was the perfect cigar. The right profile, the right price, the right size He smoked one everyday for most of his adult life until he passed in 2009 (at the age of 87) 3
zmancbr Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Oh hell no lol...idk if I could pick just one. There are some that are my favorites, but in general I smoke it all as long as its under 52 RG. Once in a blue moon I'll smoke a 54 RG but very rarely. Its rare that I even smoke that same marca in any given week unless I'm really craving something.
Rye Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I can't even get my "go to" cigars straight, let alone settle on just one. Variety & spices & whatnot 3

Smallclub Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 In Paris, while I was hanging in tobacco shops, discussing with the manager, etc, I've met dozens of gentlemen who smoked exclusively one or two cigars. The most common case was the "Epicure2 after lunch+PSD4 after dinner" type, followed by the "Cohiba robusto exclusively" type, and the "1 Lusitania a day" type… Needless to say, to me these people are like cigarette smokers. Their cigar is an habit, nothing else. They generally know very little about habanos and cigars in general. 1
... Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I remember chatting with an older guy who smoked only RyJ Churchills. He must have hit a rough patch in the past ten years at some point...
merc Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I've thought about only buying D4's, with the occasional box of Monte 4 in between for a change of pace. Wouldn't work in practice though, curiosity would always get the better of me.
MIKA27 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Sorry...can't do it. I like variety oh and I like different cigars
kuma Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Like to spread it around. Lately I've gone the way of eating food. As when the weather is very hot tend to eat light cool (temp.) foods cold noodles, salads and the like. During the cold winter months tend to eat hot pork, beef heavy foods with oil, butter and fat. With smokes in summer light blended CC's, petit coronas, coronas and skinnies. Winter larger gauged smokes, D4's, Epic. #2's, Jl #2's and the like. This is at times more about function and the ability of certain cigars performing well in cold weather hence larger gauged smoke staying smokeable. Hot weather smokes that don't struggle to stay lit and are easy on the throat and senses. But this logic is not set in stone and at times will reverse things a little. 1
santela Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 If I had to, I guess I could smoke exclusively PLPC or Monte2. If I had to that is...

johndalton44 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I hope that one day I might find one or two cigars I enjoy to such an extent that I'm willing to forego the others. Call me a romantic. Still, I can't imagine what "it" might be, or how I'd know "it" was "it" in time to stock up if it wasn't regular production. I could certainly smoke a ton of Bolivar Petite Coronas without tiring of them. But at the end of the day I'd be curious what else was out there. Too much I haven't smoked, or smoked enough of, to limit myself at this point. 1
LLC Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Currently have 60 unIque types of cigars on hand and look forward to getting even more variety.
bradbrennan Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Lots of parallels to women Rob says, interesting...some are really good young, but can always appreciate age!!! 4
leftimatic Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Can't do it, sorry. To many to try. Maybe some day. I must admit I am partial to the Punch Punch. One day it might be "the one".
CdnLimitada Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I am not but I'll answer it as if I was. It would be: Epi2 in morning and Cohiba Espy in evening.
tjohn7 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Since I'm married, I'm monogamous in my relationship. But in terms of cigars, I am my teenage self, out looking for the finest and best and trying every one that I can. Too many cigars, not enough time. 1
PapaDisco Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'm gonna explain the "8 out of 10" principle to my wife. I'll let you know how it goes . . . 2
