sengjc
The wife's off to Paris with her sisters and mom in about a month's time. Unfortunately, I am unable to make the trip due to work commitments. Since they are planning on a shopping and sight-seeing trip, I don't think I will miss out much. She will be going through Charles de Gaulle. Just wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on the duty free scene ther as I would like her to pick up some whisky, Cognac or Armagnac. If there are any websites with pics and price list, that would be most useful. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Puros Y Vino
If she's passing through CDG their duty free is great. Don't expect great prices on cigars though. In terms of drinks, there were great prices on various Camus Cognacs 20 & 40 year old. They have insane wine in the fridges if you're inclined to take out a second mortgage on your house. In general, you can find some excellent wine at decent prices. Lots of Magnums to choose from as well.
LordAnubis
EDIT: ahahah sorry I totally just read the first line and then assumed you were looking to buy cigars... ignore hwat I said below then As for the actual topic... I know nothing about alcoholic drinks obviously They have a shop in the Air France terminal thing ( I think it its Terminal 3 ) But the store is called La Cave a Cigares. It is not cheap as has already been said. However, I went in there and inspected a lot of the cigars and the quality was superb. I noticed every single box in the store had the stickers neatly cut, so I could inspect everything. I asked why all the boxes were opened and the guy said that they open and inspect every single box for quality and imperfections before they go on the shelf. And no kidding, of the 10 or so boxes of different brands I looked at, every single box was a solid PE to HQ box. I would go as far as to say it is the only duty free place I would be happy to just give someone a list and say "get these". On the contrary, Dubai duty free is what makes me terrified of buying blind.... some of the **** I have seen in that place... makes me thankful for robs hand picking service. Lotusguy
I was just there last Sunday - nice selection of Cognac and Armagnac. Decent Whisky selection (Frankfurt Duty Free is much better). Had a couple of nice Rhum Agricole as well. They had the QdO Belicoso Royal in the walk-in humidor and Cohiba Reserva Selecion (for 1400 Euros!) but no more Libertadores RE. garbandz
when buying Armagnac, get at least Napoleon age....XO is better, and not too much more $$$. You will be pleased by the graceful maturing when the bottle is open and probably should keep a regular check on it......... Marie Duffeau,Cerbois,Dartigalongue,Lapostelle,Marquis De Puysegur........ I like Marie Duffeau for the quality/price.................
TM-US
I bought some amazing Armagnac at CDG a few years ago. Cost over double in NYC if you can even find it. Some great Cognac as well. I didn't look at scotch or cigars when I went, unfortunately.
Maplepie
Yes!! Yes!!!! Duty Free in the non-Orly Aeroport is absolutely brilliant. Foie gras everywhere, bottles upon bottles of wine, amazing chocolates, and the biggeset selection of cognacs i've ever seen. I contemplated spending the extra $200 to swing through Paris only to leave from their duty free before. Amazing!!
