An opposite but similar perspective can be adopted as well. Quick, without smoking any let's commit to two boxes because they are new so they must be good?? I don't understand how anyone could make

While comments like mine might appear discouraging to others, they are not intended this way. What they are intended to be, are intentionally negative to Tabacuba. My negativity is not aimed at any me

I may be going out on a limb here but I reckon they chose the name just to wind up Piggy. There's some guy in HSA HQ right now on his computer pissing himself.

Looks like ten counts to me? So 2 boxes is less than 1 25 count, and I tend not to buy singles so not a big commitment to try something new?

Or stick with the same cigars you've always smoked and always enjoyed, no problem either way.

No need to proclaim anything new or different as wrong every single time though.

I am not opposed to new cigars, be they EL or RE or whatever. You want em, buy em. I have, and have even loved some of them.

I do not, however, think they need to recycle old and even classic names to use for a completely different vitola. Pick a new one. Make one up.

I certainly understand (and generally agree), but names are often recycled in many industries. For me, the Cuban cigar industry is just that - it's a business. Considering the industry as curators of some kind of heritage or tradition - if it ever truly existed, I think that that horse smashed through the gate and galloped off into the sunset some time ago.

I enjoy a good cigar - in the end, I don't hold any of it against them.

My negativity is not aimed at any member, nor at those wishing to buy them, but to the powers that be that make these fat, expensive, untested cigars and expect that 'all smokers' are supposed to be excited about them.

It is not personal. But it is a personal preference! We each have our own tastes and define a desirable cigar differently. The forum concept allows us all a voice. Not all our voices will reflect joyful exuberance when we see cigars like this.

What's in a name? They replaced a fine cigar, with this far more expensive (potentially crappy) one. That is a problem for some of us. I for one, will continue to bring up the fact that I am not happy about it. Calling it the same name as one of my favorite cigars, is salt in the wound…!

Have no fear mates, Tabacuba does not hear me! They hear your dollars, pounds, euros… etc. I will continue to speak it, nonetheless.

October/Early at this stage. No pricing as of yet.

Oz is generally 6 weeks behind releases in EU

Does this mean that the PL Picadores are only a few weeks away?

As one now 'expired' member once said to me… "No, the moon revolves around you."

Damn right!

I was thinking the same thing… -LOL

There are those who feel anything other than a knuck, pan, or shovel should not wear a Harley badge. Evos (I've owned mine for twenty three years), Twincams. Revos!?! When things went crazy for HD in the mid '90s, core "enthusiasts" felt disenfranchised and voiced their dissent.

Spin it as they might, the truth is that without the "yuppies" and their cash, HD probably would not have survived. So what, if anything, does this mean? Probably not too much, but who needs bands or boxes - just provide good cigars?

I miss them… and the Banana Splits! -LOL

Methinks, Tabacuba should have a 52, 54 and 56 ring series named Bingo, Boingo and Bongo!

Jesus, I am too late, they make the Behike. Behike must be H SA speak for banana!

This is the crux of it for me. Make whatever cigar you want, but don't call it something that already exist(ed) if it's completely different. It's just insulting.

-Please enjoy the new Porsche 944!

-But it's a ATV schoolbus with 3 axles.

-It's a limited edition! We'll call it what we want.

Ray, don't forget Fleegle, Drooper, and Snorky. I have to believe you understand what I'm "driving at". We can lament loss all we want, but for better or worse, life continues to grind forward no matter our feelings - with or without us.

They're cigars, they're a company. There are other cigars, there are other companies. It's never too late for adventure........

Imminent in this part of the world (MTL,Canada)

I'm out that way for a couple of days next week. If there in and I can come by I will have to try one.

Why? (seriously, I'm curious as to what what would be insulting about a cigar name).

While I am not insulted by it really, I feel it insults a fine cigar and I will answer the question, if the poster does not mind.

Because I don't like frauds! Yeah, frauds… knockoffs of the original! Partagas Seleccion Privada means something already… Of course I am referring to the Seleccion Privada No. 1, which is the named cigar that I am referring to. The powers at be chose to kill it! It is therefore dead. You can potentially remake it but not as a fat sloppy Jose, bedecked in an EL robe.

I mean if I put up a picture of a Cohiba Red Dot, I am going to get tomatoes thrown at me (figuratively). This is how I feel about taking the name of a fine cigar and hanging it around this pig…! (not me!)

When I say I like Cohibas, I don't mean Red Dot Cohibas… When I say that I love the Seleccion Privada, I don't mean this albatross.

Frankly I would feel the same if an NC company calls a cigar a Sir Winston…

It's insulting to the cuban cigar smoker's intelligence, IMO. Using the good associations by mimicking another name to sell a product that is quite different. Why not a short robusto being named the Upmann Monarca? Who cares, right?

Frankly, a number of us do. We are on a cuban cigar forum, for Christ's sake. We're already cuban cigar nerds. If we were on a Star Wars forum, and they renamed the Death Star 'Battlestar Galactica' in the next movie, we'd all be having a dork embolism.

The sad part is that as long as some one buys them, and they will, we will see more of this stuff .
