cigarbreak Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Curious to see if any others have some interesting experiences/confessions/weird quirks to share that seriously indicate you are, have (or are fast becoming) a cigar smoker and will likely never go back to living and thinking the same way again lol. I’ll start with… - A month ago I straight-up told one of my closest friends to stop butting cigars like a cig as it kills me inside every time lol. I’m glad he’s a very good friend so he totally listened unoffended by my rage lol - Been cutting what’s left of my PL Montecarlos in half and fully enjoying the result - Happily smoked three cigars (one pc and two robustos) back to back while waiting for my gf to get out of her 4 hour exam - Went to Montreal LCDH and spent way more than buying the 1-2 sticks I initially planned get…where ‘way more’ is relative to the fact that they are Canadian prices - Agree to never again smoke in the car I share with my gf but then lighting one up as soon as I drop her off and then buying those tree car air fresheners after - I can never tell what I want to smoke until the moment of, so I always pack wayyy more than is necessary to fit any possible mood I might be in at the time (I guess I am just moody lol) Anyone else? 2
Rushman Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I have a locker at LCDH Cayman and 9 out of 10 times I smoke out of the boxes I have there.......but on at least three occasions I picked some single up to smoke and after an hour or so said bye to Omaida, Wallace or Valerio only to realize the next day I forgot to pay for it. I once smoked 5 or 6 cigars in one day (while another BOTL smoked 7) while we consumed a few too many buckets at my store in PDC. My wife was feeling ill so she stayed at home and wondered why I closed the store two hours late that day. This sort of thing (4 - 5 cigars a day) continued for a week and I must confess I was a little happy when my new found friend had to book his flight back to the US. It took me three days for my palate to get back to normal. I am picky about the way I cut (or punch) and light my cigar and even though my wife has been smoking longer than I hate her doing it, although I usually realize she did a better job. 1
Carts Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Good idea Nic, the biggest change I've noticed is never leaving home without a travel humi stocked for whatever free time I may run into. Even though I have more than enough stock at home, I can never resist stopping in at the LCDH for an espresso and a stick. Not quite as nuts as you though 1
Maplepie Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Smoking an LGC Glorioso as the 6th cigar of the day (night). The retrohale told me it was a good cigar. Other than that................. 1
jerryg05495 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I travel frequently for work, and am always hoping that a hotel has a nice-ish space for smoking a cigar, like an outdoor pool area. Also look for coffee shops with outdoor seating. 1
Mckucci Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I bought a new car last June and said to myself I wasn't going to smoke in it.... Now I don't think I will ever get rid of the stale smoke smell.... 1

Hahaha yeah I had a simliar relationship with a tobacconist whom I made a good friend in and instead of a locker I had a tab where whenever I was in such a rush to go for cigarbreak I could just leave my belongings at work and just grab a astick and light up. Worked on the honor system i guess lol. 4-5 daily for a week is what i'd expect to go through in Cuba but 7?? woww! As for letting my gf cut or light my cigar she can cut it alright, but could not light it without me being extremly scrutinizing lol

Even though I have more than enough stock at home, I can never resist stopping in at the LCDH for an espresso and a stick. Not quite as nuts as you though Lol! I'm not nuts i swear...I've just convinced myself that good cigars are like that tasty bag of chips (or chocolate bar, or plate of nachos/fries) you kill off without even blinking and then yearn for more...its just in this case there is no guilt of cholesterol or bloated feeling, so as far as I know I will gladly light another? and it seems to be getting worse as the cold weather approaches I feel obliged to take advantage and smoke more lol.. But i'm with you on never i mean never leaving the house with out the herfador having at least 3-4 different choices for the right mood/moment lol

Other than that................. lol! sounds like after that many cigars your primary tasting functions were shot so you had to rely on whatever sensory abilities you had still operating to justify lighting it up. I admit that when I smoked those 3 cigars back to back , the third one was pretty much irreelevant except for some fleeting moments of flavour lol

Also look for coffee shops with outdoor seating. hahah that's exactly how I look at vacation plans now...is there an LCDH? are there any cubans available? if not, whats the best NC I can likely find there lol And of course, where are some great places to relax and smoke a cigar or three? lol
Maplepie Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 lol! sounds like after that many cigars your primary tasting functions were shot so you had to rely on whatever sensory abilities you had still operating to justify lighting it up. actually, i used a different technique. I had lit up a simple belvedere after dessert. Because it was after a meal, I forgot the fact that I had smoked an RA 3-4-3 (Double Corona) before dessert and after the meal. Compounded by the fact that i had great company, i literally didn't remember that. Alcohol doesn't help with it, either, of course... 1
cigarbreak Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 I bought a new car last June and said to myself I wasn't going to smoke in it.... Now I don't think I will ever get rid of the stale smoke smell.... HAHAHA That's pretty funny because I honestly loove smoking while stuck in traffic...it all of a sudden becomes pleasurable instead of a nuisance and sometimes when the traffic clears up i'm like wait?! im only half way through lol That being said the Tree air fresheners work great, just open the whole thing and let it sit with your windows closed for a few hours. should do the trick. Even better is this stuff called Ozuim found at some crappy tire stores or at car wash lots. Its hospital grade deoderizer so spray it, hold your breath and close the car door. loll apparently not good to inhale any of the mist but it works like a charm.

I agree, I don't mind commuting when I have a cigar, it suppresses my road rage! LOL! I'll have to try the Ozuim... I've tried air fresheners, they didn't help! lol
Ryan Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 All I probably need to say is that come each August I'm planning my February Cuba trip.
canucks6024 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Once in a while, I enjoy biting off the head of my cigars, Winston Churchill style. I then do reenactments of the "We Shall Fight on the Beaches" speech.
tjohn7 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 My confession: I hide my credit card statement from my wife so to avoid her seeing the excessive amount of boxes I'm buying. Not sure if mine is confession of a cigar smoker or merely the confession of a husband. Tom
Strada Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Let me do one for Enis/ebHead! "I once smoked 13 cigars in a day in Havana of which at least 2 BHK56 at Rob's mansion party...." This has many witnesses to corroborate. 2

Are you leaving out the Houston's/Chamberlains night of no less than 8 cigars smoked a piece, alcohol consumption was lost track of, you broke out bandless bundles,I smoked a Cohiba Siglo VI and it could have been a carrot for all I would have known, then moved to the Londoner at 1am, smoked more, and the next 5 hours are unaccounted for??? I walked to my hotel while ya'll "parked" at a gas station and ate Tacos at 5:00am! lol We need to do that again! My winter liver will be arriving soon....

This has many witnesses to corroborate. AGREED!!!! Was gonna mention this too. Thought I was doing good that day with 6 or 7 cigars down the hatch, but then Enis (the P is silent) blew us all outta the water that day with his silent marathon haul for the human chimney trophy. ....Mind you, I don't think he could taste breakfast the next day, LOL!

DWC Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 - I can never tell what I want to smoke until the moment of, so I always pack wayyy more than is necessary to fit any possible mood I might be in at the time (I guess I am just moody lol) Yup! I use the excuse that I may run into a friend or few (or friends that I just haven't met yet) that need a cigar. And it would be a shame to not have enough of a selection for them to choose from. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around! Dan
Lasabar Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 My wife understands that cigars are my hobby. One of my few, so she doesn't mine the hundreds in the humidor. But on days that the mailman delivers it right to me, she's not home and I can just put the cigars straight into the humidor with her none the wiser are days I go to bed smiling. 2

puromaniac Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 LOL. THIS!!!!!! So true, plus getting to know the mailman's schedule to intercept them before they ring the bell. Plus I often volunteer to drive because I own the vehicle and can smoke if I want.
