JHands Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Anyone know what the reputation of these is for construction etc? Had a few recently and they are stellar. Thanks brothers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Onsto Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I've smoked multiple boxes and never had a really bad one, normally they are excellent. Just the odd one that's plugged, same as any small ring gauge Cuban cigar. 1
Maplepie Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 They are very, very consistently not in my wheelhouse. But I can easily see how so many people can like them and have them as a great short smoke.
Smallclub Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 EL Principe is my favorite minuto. The blend is very consistent. Each box usually contains 2 or 3 underfilled ones – I can't remember a plugged one. 1
ksblazer Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I've been through a few coxes of them over the years. The El Principe is one of my favorite minutos as well. Construction is pretty consistant. But earlier this week I got my first plugged one ever. But that wont scare me off from ordering another box of them in the future. I thought they were on the discontinue list. But they are still quite easy to obtain as of right now. 1
Maplepie Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I've been through a few coxes of them over the years. oh wow...... that sure is a lot of El Principes!!
garbandz Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 very consistant for me,smoked a lot of them.......... fairly low % of tight or loose sticks in my experience. 1
fokker4me Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I've only smoked through one box but I have yet to find a dud in the mix.
shlomo Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Like smallclub, I have never had a plug. A couple slightly tight, a couple slightly loose....otherwise, outstanding in every way.
JHands Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Good to know thanks gents Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maplepie Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I swear to christie... everytime i read this, i think it says "Principe Conspiracy" And i already have an Archduke Ferdinan joke ready.
Cisco Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Almost done a box and I've only had a couple underfilled ones. I initially did not "get" this cigar but after resting year in the humidor, I now really like these. I will be sourcing more.
RijkdeGooier Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Like'em for steady taste and good construction over the years.
Geo17pip Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I havent had one of these in years. How is the current flavor/strength profile like on these? Are they smoking well young? 1
daeji5 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Certain sweetness to this smoke. Very unique in my opinion. Love them. Never had a bad one out of my box so far.
elam370 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I havent had one of these in years. How is the current flavor/strength profile like on these? Are they smoking well young? I've found they still taste a bit harsh after a couple of months, but the toasted tobacco and bread/nuttiness comes in spades. I'm on my second box now, they're not.bad young. I'd imagine they'd calm down a bit aged though.
TM-US Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I've smoked one and I thought it was a very nice first cigar of the day. A lot of Demerara sugar flavor.
Smallclub Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 A lot of Demerara sugar flavor. Demerara, cassonade, molasse, brown sugar, muscovado, etc. I agree, this is a very specific component/characteristic of this liga. 1
Ramrod918 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Goin thru a box right now, about 15 down an all good construction!
