He was truly a legend.

He has so many great movies but I loved him in the Great Escape as well as Jurassic park. The later may not be as accomplished a work to his other credits, but I love family movies like JP and watch them often with the kids.

RIP to one of the greats.........

I know that a lot of younger folks don't know he was famous for his work both sides of the camera. As CQ pointed out, movies like A Bridge too Far, one of my favorites was a movie he directed. Won an oscar for Gandhi…

He was also excellent in the movie the Sand Pebbles; another great movie.

Damn shame that actors seem to be picked on brawn and bust lines these days… The greats will never be replaced!

My favorite movie of all time is The Great Escape. Funny thing is the tape I used to have on it ended not long after Steve macqueen jumps the fence (it was damaged). I bought it on DVD this year. OH MY GOD THEY ALL GET SHOT WTF?!?!?!!? Worst ending ever, I want my old tape back where everyone lives happily ever after :(
