Any of you guys have trouble making a purchase on something you did not like or had bad experience with in the past? For me, I had a 10'box of Mag 50s from 2010. Nothing but paper and cardboard. I waited and still nothing so wound up giving the remainders away. So now when I hear about these being great I just have doubts about buying again.

Yes. I've had a couple of mediocre boxes of MC #4. I have no desire to try them again even though some speak highly of them.

As far as the Mag 50's go, I don't know about the 50's but I can tell you I recently got a SLB box of Mag 46's. (AUB May '13) It's the most gorgeous looking, incredible smelling box I've ever bought ( of any cigar). The wrappers are beautifully dark and oily. The cold aroma is wonderfully delicious from dark chocolate, coffee and sweet hay. I can hardly wait for them to settle to try them.

Hoyo De Monterey Regalos, really wanted to love them gave them a year. Still hated em then started giving and trading them away. Sometimes you take a shot and it pays in spades...other times it's a complete flop.

I was that way about Dip 2's until about 2008, now I can't get enough of them again!

I have exactly the same problem with the Mag 50. My first box, from 2008, was so disappointing…

How are you making assessments on how good a cigar is just by looking at it? You don't know if his Mag 50's looked awesome.

I had 898's and Lusis that paled beside the SD4 and shorts. Even the Corona Senor was more interesting than the most famous sizes. I may not buy the bigger ones again.

Had alot of boring Bolis. May not try the BBF again.

Had several aged cigars less interesting than recent issues so that doesn't pay either.

No, I can't make a full assessment. I don't know how they will smoke, But it's a good place to start. The rest of the story is that I offered to send him one so he could try it himself to see if he likes the current production.

The PSP,HQ,PE rating seems to work well for many members here, working off just the looks and smell of cigars. Doesn't it?

That's 6 long years now. Time to revisit them, especially now. They are damn ON! I have just got another box yesterday.

And yes I hated 'em back in 2010-11.

PSD4, never liked them, never understood the love from others, still have 2 left, traded or gave most of the box away

Is you experience based on just one box? Maybe a bad one? I love the PSD4s!

My problem is I'm afraid to fall off. When I get a great box of something I tend to smoke them very slowly over a long time because I know the next box I get will not be as good.
