dangolf18 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Thought you guys might enjoy this. This is a Russian Imperial silver cigar box with H Upmann on it. Inherited it and thinking about selling or keeping it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
Maplepie Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Oh that's bloody brilliant! If it bore significant family meaning, i'd keep it. Otherwise, China would eat that box up giving you enough money for 3 regular cigar boxes from that era! Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry.
dangolf18 Posted July 24, 2014 Author Posted July 24, 2014 Yea if I can just find the right Saudi or Chinese businessman....

Colt45 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Very nice! Would love to see another shot of it opened, if possible

Guyman1966 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 WOW. If you don't really need the funds, keeper for sure.

AndrewNR Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Yeah that's one hell of a show piece.. I'd say keep it.
DrunkenMonkey Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Beautiful. Figure out what it'll bring, and then decide what's worth more to you. But for me I'd keep it.
Pedro2486 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 That's a really nice piece mate. I don't think you should sell it, unless the cash is worth more to you of course. Thanks for sharing
finecigar Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Lovely box! The detail is phenomenal. Those are hard to come by so I agree if the cash is not needed then keep that beauty

dangolf18 Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Thanks guys. I'll probably keep it unless I can find a private buyer. Exact same box sold at Christies back in 2000 for $11.5k. Got an auction estimate for $11k-$15k. So it's not chump change like I originally thought (I was thinking a couple grand). I mean honestly that's around 80-100 boxes of habanos.
Stogieninja Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Dude. Unless it has real personal significance, I'd sell it!
polarbear Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If I could get 10k for it I'd be selling it. As you said, you can get a whole lotta Habanos for what is essentially a dust collector
canadianbeaver Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 A note about auction selling. Just because they get that, does not mean that is how much it is worth. And, Christies takes at least half. It is beautiful but do not get all dreamy about appraisals. Talk and sale price are two different things. Decide on how much you love it and what it is going to take to give it up. That is its true value. CB Antique Sterling Silver dealer on eBay for several years
