Thought you guys might enjoy this. This is a Russian Imperial silver cigar box with H Upmann on it. Inherited it and thinking about selling or keeping it.

Oh that's bloody brilliant!

If it bore significant family meaning, i'd keep it.

Otherwise, China would eat that box up giving you enough money for 3 regular cigar boxes from that era! :)

Yeah that's one hell of a show piece.. I'd say keep it.

That's a really nice piece mate. I don't think you should sell it, unless the cash is worth more to you of course. Thanks for sharing

Lovely box! The detail is phenomenal. Those are hard to come by so I agree if the cash is not needed then keep that beauty

Thanks guys. I'll probably keep it unless I can find a private buyer. Exact same box sold at Christies back in 2000 for $11.5k. Got an auction estimate for $11k-$15k. So it's not chump change like I originally thought (I was thinking a couple grand). I mean honestly that's around 80-100 boxes of habanos.

If I could get 10k for it I'd be selling it.

As you said, you can get a whole lotta Habanos for what is essentially a dust collector

A note about auction selling. Just because they get that, does not mean that is how much it is worth. And, Christies takes at least half.

It is beautiful but do not get all dreamy about appraisals. Talk and sale price are two different things.

Decide on how much you love it and what it is going to take to give it up. That is its true value.
