surly
Wondering if anyone knows how many different current production cigars there are? In my quest to smoke at least one of every current production cuban, I'd like to know how many there are. Maybe if alex (atgroom) sees this, he can query the cubancigarwebsite database and tell us. Otherwise I'll count them up and post it here. Nice thing about cubans is it's actually possible to try them all with a little work. I figure I've tried at least half by now, being pretty new to the world of habanos. Has anyone else here attempted the same thing? cheers!
GodofFire
New to CC smoking or of every type would cure my issue with where to start that's for sure. Now if I could just pick the right 6 numbers I could actually do it. Good luck on your adventure
Smallclub
About 180 last time I checked, plus the Regional Editions, the Limited Editions that are no longer rolled but still available, and special releases…

surly
Thanks, Habana Mike - I'm going to pop that list into a spreadsheet.
surly
Actually, based on Habana Mike's helpful post, I found how to do it on http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/ Here's the link if anyone else wants to see it on the site. http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/list.aspx?&specialtype=Current_Production;&includeimages=False&sortorder=noorder Should be pretty doable to smoke them all at least once. Although it might get expensive with the Cohibas and for some reason Punch is hard to find in my neck of the woods.
Smallclub
and for some reason Punch is hard to find in my neck of the woods. Cuban Punch are not imported in Canada, because of a copyright dispute or something like that…
Habana Mike
Quick run through of the spreadsheet and it looks like I've smoked over 140 of these in my career, looks like a few left to go. Most of the Vergueros, Quinteros, Piedras, Guantanameras are lacking along with a handful of HU, R&J, Partagas, and Monte, mostly smaller formats/machine made. Trent0341
I am also currently working my way through smoking every current production cuban cigar. It has not been as easy as I had hoped but will certainly be worth it in the long run.
surly
Looks like I'm at 77 current production cigars so far - not bad for less than a year of enjoying Cubans! I think I'm a classic example of getting over-eager when finding a new hobby.
polarbear
I'm around 80 Not too bad considering I only just started smoking CC's again after a couple years on the NC train. Speaking of NC's, if you were curious how many different cigars there are in the Non Cuban market that are regular production, the number would be closer to 30,
Trent0341
Habana Mike, After going through that list (and comparing it to the one I keep - I had 187 with machine mades) I notice that you included two of the LCDH releases (Partagas Salomones and Culebras) as part of current production. I know that LCDH releases are supposed to be limited but it doesn't appear that these are. Can you explain to me what the story is on these two? These were the results I got when I queried the CCW database for all current production, just cut & pasted. From the notes: Culebra : The handmade 2007 are marketed as a La Casa del Habano exclusive, but appear to be freely available worldwide. Salamones: Standard band B, with a La Casa del Habana band. dan5974
Wow,I counted 122 on that list that I've smoked. The sad thing is the list of deletions in the past ten years is probably larger than the current production list.

ATGroom
Maybe if alex (atgroom) sees this, he can query the cubancigarwebsite database and tell us. Looks like you guys figured it out before I got there! For what it's worth, CCW lists 189 current cigars, 503 discontinued, and 577 special release. As much as we try to keep it up to date and accurate, CCW is still just a website maintained by a couple of guys with no formal links to the cigar industry. Sometimes we make mistakes, and sometimes Cuba does something a bit weird and we have to make a judgement call (as Mike indicated in his response on the Culebras). For what it's worth, I'd say that the 189 probably also contains a few cigars that are officially or unofficially discontinued and the news hasn't filtered through to us yet. Likewise, there are a few cigars that are officially discontinued but still seem to show up in new production from time to time. LCDH releases have become a lot more limited in the last few years, so moving the two cigars you mention into special release is probably warranted.

Lotusguy
Ok, I had the information from some German Casas, like LCDH Hamburg: http://www.thecigarsmoker.com/blog/?p=432 Not a reliable source of information at all - they also spread the false rumor of the total discontinuation of Trinidad a while back.
