surprised.gif The No1, 3 and 4 have nothing in common with anything ERDM. To begin with, LGC has a Partagas heritage…

I agree totally with this. In their own right most ERdM are pretty good, but IMO Choix Supreme aren't even worth stamping on in comparison to any of the Med d'Or.

Love all La Gloria Cubana except Inmensos

I keep hearing about the Immensos being the only LGC that isn't good. Is it the vitola or is the blend just not right?

I think the blend is wrong for a cigar this size.

Obviously if you changed the size it would effect the blend, and LGC has shown they can make a good cigar.

If they would just make a corona and a gorda,I would be very happy........

in the end, they are similar to me. a good 3YO CS has almost been identical to an Inmensos in my books.

however, I've never asked this comparison to other people, before. perhaps i should reconsider my stance regarding the proximity of ERdMs and LGCs. i've never smoked them back to back before, either... i'll yield and revisit after trying some of the LGC 1s and 3s and ERdM regionals

Hmmmmmmm... have you tried the regionals (Elegantes, Balthasars, Choix de l'Epoque) and older ones that SmallClub mentioned as well? i originally hated the ERdM because of young Demi Tasse and Choix Supremes i've had. But the regional selections abroad (coupled with some vintage stuff i received) really changed my mind. they're practically one of my favourite marcas now!

The Choix de l'Epoque is the only ERDM regional I have had. I threw it out, it was easily in the top 5 worst cigars I have ever had. I just don't think they are blended for my palate.

Another vote for smaller sticks? Hello Havana, are you listening?

I have some early Inmensos, underwhelming so far.

Darn shame that a great marca gets such negative feedback.

It seems that La Gloria Cubana and ERDM start to suffer in a large Ring Gauge format - lots of love for anything thinner than 48RG, though

Thanks to all that replied or pm'd me. I think I've found my next box purchase. That or H. Upmann Magnum 46.

You just went from a very specific and distinguishable smoke to the most generic and blasé.

Really? I've seen a lot of good reviews about the H. Upmann Mag 46. Any H. Upmanns that would be recommended? I've been wanting to try those out too.

Mag 46's are great, you wouldn't be disappointed with them. I tried a couple LGC no 1's from 02 and they were fabulous. Haven't had a chance to try a 13 no 2 but the 98 that I had wasn't as good as the 1's. Didn't get to try 3 and 4, but they're a bit too skinny for my liking.

Now I also have a box of Inmenso's and they weren't too similar to the skinnier formats. I'm sure they might get better with age, but the couple I've had ROTT didn't blow me away. So if you want to get some LGC's, I'd say go for no 1's.

Connoisseur A's are the only recent production Upmann's worth buying at the moment.

Let me know how that works out, very difficult to find these now.

You're forgetting the "IMO" portion of that comment. Stating your opinion as fact comes across as rather arrogant. Perhaps that's what you were shooting for.

EDIT: in case the QED wasn't clear to show the sarcasm in my statement and the irony in yours, phrases such as "I think that..." and "In my opinion..." are implied statements in any form of writing. They show insecurity, delay of information, and redundancy. Of course you think that. Of course it is in your opinion. Why else would you be writing it or sharing that insight? What a waste of time for everyone reading.

In my opinion, of course.

How long ago? If it was 09-11, I wouldn't blame you. Young ERdM are gawdawful.

I would still give them a second shot, though. All their regionals are coming along nicely with age. Starting out, I've fckn hated the ERdM marca. Wasn't until I tried some of the oldies and regionals did I start to appreciate them in great respect.
