dowjr1 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 So often it seems we hear people saying they do not have enough time to smoke double coronas. What a sad state of affairs it appears so many of us are in if we can't make time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. As the Merovingian said,"Yes, of course. Who has time? Who has time? But then if we never *take* time, how can we have time?" So I for one will be making a pledge to schedule and plan my time better. Because I like a good double corona and life is rushed enough as it is. Cheers! 2
Colt45 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I think that perhaps it can sometimes be a matter of boredom. That is, if you are doing something that takes a few hours - watching a game, barbecue, etc, and you light up a DC, passage of time can go unnoticed. But when the DC is center stage - you are sitting alone solely for the sake of smoking - one can become restless no matter how good the cigar. Not always - just one possibility.
Drguano Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I find that I rarely smoke a DC because I don't want to start one that I might not have time to finish. When I start one, I find it is always an enjoyable way to while away the afternoon. On another note, didn't the Merovingians invent that delightful whipped egg-white pie topping?
CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Three and a half hours for a single cigar does get a little boring for me, I'd much rather smoke a couple of coronas or robustos
cigaraholic Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I burn thru a DC in 2 hrs......and I burn thru a lot. 2 for a round of golf.....if it's windy I might need a corona too. It's a 2 hr ride to my mom's house.....and 2 back..... I smoked one the other night watching Montreal beat the goons. I've got time.... 1
StingMeadery Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Love that classic quote of the Merovingian... "To curse in French is like to wipe your arse with silk"! Still trying to have that beautiful string of French translated, but aparantly it doesn't translate well. Almost inspired enough to learn it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Skyfall Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I love DC's but it usually only takes me 2 hours tops to smoke one.
Habana Mike Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I love a Prominente when I find the time, which I generally do at least once or twice a week. If I've got a long drive, watching a movie or playing poker a Lusi, VR DA, Punch or RAG keep me company for 2-3 hours. Enjoy the occasional SLR or Hoyo as well though I don't stock those so much. I did smoke an SLR earlier this week while hanging out in the deck and it was quite good, may have to rethink those.

This is why I don't smoke many DC...but last weekend a good friend called and said he was stopping over so I went and grabed my only Lusi ..it was from 08 and it was wonderful!

vitruvius Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You mean : 'Dire un juron en francais est comme s'essuyer le posterieur (ou le cul) avec de la soie' ? I am still trying to figure out how TABARNAK is similar to silk but hey, it must refer to the French and not French Canadian. ;-) If we are to translate this quote I would rather say : "se torcher le cul avec de la soie". That verb is used both in France and here in Québec. And the opposition between "torcher" (which is kinda rude) and "soie" which is a delicate fabric makes it all the more striking. Just my two cents ! And to the OP's point, I could not agree more. We have to take the time to enjoy life ! Vitruvius
TiminBC Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 We all have time , we just choose to use it differently. I seem to rarely have time for things I do not like doing but smoking cigars is not one of them :}
potpest Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Love DC's; have more than enough time to enjoy them and I usually reach for one most weekends. Usually stick a good film on to watch while i'm smoking it. Can't say I've ever got bored half way through a decent cigar.
Rye Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 DC's and Churchills are a big part of my rotation. Worth making time for.
PapaDisco Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I have an easy time fitting in a Churchill, but the DC is sometimes a challenge. More than once I've offered one to a pal on a club night only to have them pocket the DC for later when they have more time!

Vitruvius Well that id the better adapted translation for sure. I was trying to make it word for word and be polite. Loll 1
SMQQKIN Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I find DCs very enjoyable when you commit to sitting and watching a complete football, hockey, baseball, etc. game. Fire it up, sit back and enjoy the cigar/game.
ayepatz Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks for the inspiration, dowjr1. Viva la revolución!
