matgerado Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'm in! Looks interesting and add more excuses to load up more weight for the weight-in hahaha
Philprop Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I don't think loading up on the weight before the start of this comp is a good idea. The winner is decided by percentage of weight lost, not how many pounds/kilos. In this case being a lower weight helps your chances of winning as you would have to lose less weight. Let's say for arguments sake that I am 250 pounds. For me to lose 5% I would have to lose 12.5 pounds where someone who is 200 pounds would only have to lose 10 pounds. So the more you load up before the comp the more you have to lose. So I'm going to start losing now.
matgerado Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 It was a joke phil... Of course it's not a good idea for various reasons. Two sides of a coin though. The more weight you have, the higher "potential" for total weight loss. Lets take an example of a 175cm man.If original weight is 110kg reaching the ideal bodyweight of 76kg is approximately 30% loss. If original weight is 125kg reaching the idea bodyweight of 76kg is approximately 40% loss. BUT if you are the 125kg and able to lose that much in the time frame set, you damn well deserve winning that box of cigars! And yes i'm going to start losing weight now as well!
