rmill3r Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Someone gifted me a PLPC (I'm new to the CC world, so this is a treat for me), and they raved about how good they are with considerable age. I'll have to ask him again, but I think he said it's already been aged a few years. I have some fresh PLPCs coming in the post which I'll get to try out, but I figured I might as well hold onto the one he gifted me and age it even longer. Should be an even better treat down the road! Sadly, I'm beginning to see the wrapper unravel. Not a lot, but enough. I keep the particular desktop humi that i have that one in at a fairly solid 65%-67%. It does waver a bit within that range, but it stays within that range. None of the other cigars are having issues. Is it common for a wrapper to become undone when the rh waves about 3 percentages, give or take? In any case, though...what are some homemade fixes to keep that wrapper in place? I've heard there are things you can do to fix an undone wrapper, but I'm still aiming to age this one at least another year or so. Thanks and cheers! What's everyone smoking today, by the way? I've been having too many lately so I'm taking most of this week off, but I'll be having some tasty treats by the end of the week I'm sure!
CUBANO Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I use El Ligador cigar glue, it works well for me never have tried the homemade remedy. Good Luck. 1
Lotusguy Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Gum Arabic from your local arts and crafts store works as well. 1
UpInSmoak Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Cigar glue of some sort should help, but keep in mind that this will be your first attempt at using it. I butchered my first few cigars that I tried "saving". Practice makes perfect so to speak, so you may want to trial and error with a less important cigar in your stash. I smoke cosmetically challenged sticks as soon as I can. Tears and cracks tend to worsen as time goes on, especially if it's in a humidor that gets a lot of use. My 2 cents 1

Pedro2486 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Someone mentioned using honey the other day, maybe try that. I'm sure the thread is in one of the topics referenced above
KoreanCowboy Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 El ligador. It's $7 on eB@y. Just buy a bottle. It'll last you at least 2 years. 1

A quick check of the incoming stock and those that stand out are the ones to go first 1
DWC Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I picked up some liquid pectin at a local supermarket. (found in with the canning stuff) it comes in a pouch so I transferred it to a small squeeze bottle for storage and ease of use. Work fine for me. As far as I can tell, that's what El Ligador is. Dan
rcarlson Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 There's a trick I have used in many pinches with a wrapper split. Dab a very, very small amount of milk or cream so long as it has some milk fat. It will dry very quickly (just a tiny dab). And I have never had it affect the taste in any way that I was able to detect. Surprisingly, I have had more difficulties with the glues than this method.
