markyeo Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 welcome to the forum Max!.. cheers and happy smokes!
ZinZan Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Welcome max. Dont worry you'll soon graduate to the "slghtly more pricey but still reasonable" cigars. When i started i thought the CnC was it for me. There's a lot gems in that category mind you but they are usually smaller cigars and some dont age that well. Once you start buying boxes, it becomes really cheap but you should try out as many as you can before commiting to a box. I was actually a reader before i decided to join last night. Thanks for the tip and from the reviews i see lots of hidden gems in the CnC indeed. Btw, i feel that singles here are too pricey so im buying in boxes instead. If i dont like them now, i might have a different opinion, say after few months or years later. My quite recent acquisition was a box of Cohiba Maduro 5. 2 boxes of Epicure Especial on the way (hopefully i'll receive them soon)

I'm not a fan of Maduro, the 1st box I bought when I started out, now I don't even look at it and I still have a couple of sticks of them. Czar samplers are brilliant for trying out stuff and the pricing is extremely fair not a big difference to buying a box. And their reviews are spot on to my taste bud plus it's just hilarious watching rob and ken.
maxcjs0101 Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Oh, when i said it was pricey "here" i was referring to cigars which are sold in my country. Sucks to be taxed almost 30-40% from the cigar price.
sengjc Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Welcome to the forums. By the way do you know where's a good place to buy locally? Whenever I am back in Malaysia for holidays I only know of Kamelah in 1 Utama or Sunway Pyramid and the shop inside the PJ Hilton. I hear Maduro in Taman Tun has closed down. Otherwise, the One World Hotel in Bandar Utama has a quiet cigar lounge that still has some old stock of Montecristo Especiales and Partagas Serie du Connoisseur No. 1. I actually do most of cigar shopping in Singapore as I normally drop by for a few days whenever I am back in Malaysia. Alternatively I will pop by the duty free shop in KLIA on arrival, the one with the big walk-in humidor near the rainforest walk or the smaller one after the Aerotrain. Are there any other places to go?
Fuzz Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I wouldn't buy from the shops in KLIA. Found mold in a few boxes in both shops. Plus the girls there don't have much product knowledge.
