So, RyJ is a brand that I just haven't got around to

Very much. I bought a box of short churchills once, and they were FLAT! But in doing some

Research it seems as though the Cazadores hold

A pretty loyal following. Everyone uses the word

Strong to describe them... My question is, strong like what, or compared to what? Is there another cigar on the market that might resemble it in strength? Plz share your thoughts

I don't find them strong, I love them. They are stronger, but I don't really think any cigar is "strong", so I may not be a good scope of measurement. I only get R&J Short and Wide Churchill's hand picked, so all of mine are usually great! The Cazzie is one of my top favorites.

They certainly can be both strong and harsh in the classical sense of the words. Potent nicotine hit, bit rough on the throat. However, the words I'd use to describe them are "dense, rich, and flavorful" especially with a few years on. Within the first 2-3 years, they can be strong and harsh...although nothing like they used to be.

Just keep in mind that I'm speaking of a combination of characteristics that together make the Caz so satisfying. Nicotine punch does not necessarily imply harshness. One of the most knee-buckling cigars I've ever smoked was a Trinidad from book that was quite mild. Conversely, some old Los Statos I recently tried were quite harsh, but not at all nicotinic. Pretty crappy to tell the truth.

In any case, they are nothing like a Chisel or Double Ligero. Nothing at all like smoking punishment. And I don't even know if they are the most nicotinic Habanos.

This cigar is a staple for me because it is so reasonably priced and so very very delish.

I find that body and strength aside, that the Cazadores really demonstrates the RyJ profile quite prominently. I get lots of sauteed morello cherry from the current batch I'm smoking.

They are strong compared to the rest of the RyJ lineup, also totally different which isn't a bad thing in my eyes. Very rich earthy spicy almost savoury flavour; they can get quite harsh towards the final third, but never unpleasant. They don't feature too regularly in my rotation, but I'm happy to know there is a box there for when I want something different and love them for a change of pace.

It's difficult to compare them to any other cigar in the Habanos lineup as, I believe, there's nothing else there that's all that similar. They're not complex in any way, but that doesn't mean they're not great cigars.

I also don't think they are very strong or the strongest cigar out there.

If I remember or understand correctly, in the old days they used to be the strongest cigar. But the blend has been changed to be a bit milder.

Where have all the cherries gone......that's what I usually sing when I light an R&J. The Cazzie is the one cigar that still reminds me of the old time R&J flavor. They'll always hold a special place in my cigar heart because one of the greatest boxes I ever had was a 95 Cazzie. I remember thinking I'd be happy just smoking these for the rest of my life.

always keep these on hand for a change of pace,or when someone wants something with a bit more oomph.

The aroma of these when opening a fresh box reminds me of the aroma of cigars from the late 80's to the late 90's,you could lose track of time standing there savoring a freshly opened box............

I smoked some 2001s from a box that Chuck (Tampa1257) had. They were killer strong, make you sick strong in terms of nicotine kick, and they were harsh to my palate. I have a box of 2009s that are much tamer, and with great pepper and cherry taste. Rich, flavorful. So from my limited experience, depends a lot on the vintage.

They're not nearly as "full-strength" as some of the cigars coming out of Nicaragua. I always keep some Cazadores on hand. In my opinion, it's the strongest Cuban I've smoked.

In 2010 I had some great Cazadores. Recent stock hasn't exactly wowed me. Though to be fair... I'm impatient and smoke them right off the truck.
