JimC Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 1 inch seperates the Monte PE from the Edmundo. I hear rave reviews on the PE but not so much for big brother... how can that be? To PE or not to PE that is the question.... have at it gents.
AussieCanuck Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I really like both. The PE is my preferred of the two, but only due to the time factor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dozerhead Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I vote for the PE. In my experience it has been a far more consistent and pleasurable smoke than it's bigger brother. I'm kind of like you, though. I don't know why there would be such a big difference, but there is (at least to my tastes). I've smoked a few bland Edmundos before but rarely get disappointed by the PE. It's one of my go to smokes.
coug28 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Therein lies the crux of the issue with Edmundos , as with Montes in general. Consistency. PEs have it in spades over the Edmundos IMO.
Marker Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 PE. Heads above it for the reason stated. Consistency in flavor (less duds).

oliverdst Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I've never had a box of Edmundo. My box of PE is gorgeous and they smoke very, very well. I have absolutely nothing to complain about them.
Stogieninja Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Never made sense to me either, but the PE has always been better.
Stevieboy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 PE blows the Edmundo away. One of my to 10 smokes and I've always got a box on the go. My favourite Monte to boot..... 1
Smallclub Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Never had a good Edmundo, never had a bad Petit Edmundo. The Edmundo is the moronic big brother of the PE. 1
CaptainQuintero Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 PE = cream coffee and choc, rich, approachable young ED = big hot windtunnel Just my experience
Laxman Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Had one good Edmundo over the years but a lot of great PE's go with the PE!
CigarAsh Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think the PE is a completely different blend from the Edmundos which is a different blend that the Grande Edmundo EL from 2010. I get much different flavors and spices from them. I actually like them all a lot and always have the PE and edmundo in my rotation. Have several boxes of the GE in the bottom of the humidor too.
stunod Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 PE's defiantly not same blend as edmundo. PE much better. 1
shlomo Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'll go (slightly) against the grain here and say that Edmundo tubos are very enjoyable. Not all that similar to the sweetness you get in a PE, but an enjoyable cigar in its own right. Dress box Edmundos are not so super in general imo.
Weeklystogie Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I've been wondering the same thing and never got around to trying an edmundo. Still working through a Feb 11 box of petit edmundo tubos though that are incredible. Like smoking a glass of milk chocolate - love those! Maybe the full size needs to wait until I can grab a single.

I didnt even know the Edmundo came in tubes lol :S 1
JimC Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 PE it is! Now to decide on 10 or 25 count box. Ahhhh decisions
Stanislaw Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 JimC please keep an eye out here for psp/hq rated boxes and avoid buying these blind.... All montes have consistency issues and the Czar will watch your back....

Jnaube Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Never had the chance to try the PE. I've been a long lasting fan of the Edmundo. Smoked I don't know how many boxes of em'.
Orion21 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 PE by a landslide. Buy a box to smoke and one to age. These cigars with a year of humidor time transform into exceptional cigars.
shlomo Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Thats right. My last box Monte PE in HQ was a dream to look at. Still sleeping. It was a dream to look at? Why the heck haven't you smoked one yet?!
ramon_cojones Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It's been years since I smoked PEs but I found them rather enjoyable. I've smoked some aged edmundos and while pretty good there is far better out there.
