poorman Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Help!! I want to get one of these boxes from the current selections. Never have had a good CoLa, all bad draws. Never have even tried an Especial. Which do you all recommend? thanks Go Hawks!
Hiroshiro Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 ooo ooooooo oooOOOOOO! I'd Say both good on their own Points but Always a Bad Draw on the Lancero? What year are you trying?
poorman Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 All mine were from 2001, from what I understand, not such a good year.
kuma Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Cohiba from what I have learned from Rob and other members really boils down to this; how long can you wait for the cigar to reach it's full potenial one, two, five or eight years thats what it comes down to. Myself I have a hard time sitting on any smokes I buy from Rob (they are world class) and to be honest I will only buy from CigarCzar for online CC's. The Monty's might be the best choice if you want to smoke when young. But I'm not the best person to ask I don't have what it takes to age a Rob box of smokes. Ask around there are many members that have much more knowledge than myself good luck.
Smallclub Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 The Monty's might be the best choice if you want to smoke when young. Agreed.
BonVivant Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Both are great - Cohiba is consistent, Montecristo is not. Montecristo Especial beats Cohiba Lancero in spades from the same factory - 2009 is a good example. 2
CUBANO Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I would get a box of the Monte Especial that Rob posted on the Hand Picked thread. Smithy got me a box a couple of years ago and they are worth it. 1
backslide Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Funny , I pulled the trigger on a box this morning as well. Sent from my Nexus 4
nikesupremedunk Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Only had fresh-ish CoLa and a single of aged Monte Esp. so my opinion doesn't weigh much, but I would rather choose the Cohiba. Then again I'm biased towards Cohiba as it's my favorite marca.
poorman Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Was waiting for the cohiba crowd to chime in. Probably my favorite marca as well, Hoyo #2 aside. Maybe I'll just get both - my poor visa.
maverickdrinker Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 tough call. Both are sublime when on.
finecigar Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Both when aged well can be delights. Personally I would choose the Cohiba... Though it's a bummer the price point. Definitely have to consider that.
BonVivant Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 lanceros from 2001-2 are just garbage, unless plugged, after that just phenomenal, bien sur, whatever.. 1
Omskakas Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 My Czar PE montes were awesome even one year old.
Hiroshiro Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Never had a good 01 I see... I have a great box at home
Smallclub Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Lanceros from 2001 were phenomenal! errr… a phenomenal rate of plugs, sure.
CUBANO Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Just pulled the trigger on both. Good choice. This way you try both.
mk05 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Lanceros from 2001 were phenomenal! What are you comparing to
PigFish Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I have had great experience with '01 Lanceros, and am still smoking them along with '99 and '00 Monte Esp. and Trini Fundi's. There were certainly some junk cigars from those years, I guess that I never got saddled with them!
