Hiroshiro Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 lol that Behike carboard pack is crazy! I understand a few years back where there werent many informative sites nor access to about cuban cigars that some guys will fall for fakes... but now with a few touches on your cellphone you can quickly identify real ones.. yet people still like to do #bigboyshit!!! LOL @ piramides extra band saying this is what a real cohiba looks like To me it is not even funny. the first couple was but what if that Gift your wife gave you made you sick or worse? Who's fault would that be and how would the Wife feel? These bastards with fake Cubans steal your money and might put you in the hospital. You can only hope you are getting some crappy NC with a Cohiba Band
ejewell Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Aw Heck, first I find the Alcohol Acquisition thread and now this. This thread is GOLD. 1
El Presidente Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 When I started this thread, it was by no means intended to belittle anyone. If nothing else, all I can hope is at least one person might be educated into avoiding a purchase of a suspicious cigar. You are doing me a great service mate. My number of " sister/boyfriend/girlfriend/brother (insert relative) returned from Cuba with ***** e-mails has halved. Well done

Edwhatever Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 You need to start a thread with some of your emails you get that would be good for a laugh too. DO IT!
jangoman88 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hiro, Nice job pointing out the box count. As many with the untrained eye would completely fall for this example bc of the "masked" quality of the cigars, paperwork, cigars, etc. Even someone who's been smoking "Cubans" for quite some time. It's one of the best looking GR Counterfeits I've seen and with being in the states, I've seen quite a few. Just a word to my fellow BOTL, you can never stop learning this in's and out's of this business with all the black and grey market supply out there...a thread like this, as comical and blatant as it is, can still be useful.. I agree 100% with this, a year ago i really started getting into cigars and cubans and these pics I probably would have been a victim and bought these but now im here and learning !
Louich Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 While this thread gave me many laughs. I feel lucky having so many good people I know that steer me away from bad places when I started the hobby. This thread is gold Rye !
Rye Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Sometimes it doesn't hurt to know your special releases. Huge thanks to Trevor and what his website has done for our community. People just keep buying them.. And your seals come on the box! Always!
LordAnubis Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I don't understand how these fakers can do a half reasonable job at making cigars, get the stickers together, but then DON"T STICK THEM TO THE DAMN BOX!?!?! ... is it really that hard to stick somethign to a box to replicate the real thing? It's what persuades me to believe that the legitimate cigar market and the fake cigar market is all controlled by the same people... that's my cuban cigar conspiracy theory.

I have wondered the same thing Maybe its all a scheme to keep all the uneducated, baller wannabe, ****** bags out of LCDHs and away from CC's thus leaving more cigars for the true aficionados

Just sayin
Bclass1 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I have wondered the same thing Maybe its all a scheme to keep all the uneducated, baller wannabe, ****** bags out of LCDHs and away from CC's thus leaving more cigars for the true aficionados This is my sentiment now as well... Let all the ignorant smoke up the crap they buy on vacation or overseas and leave the authentic tabacco to the aficionados like ourselves. I love seeing the multitude of posts/pics with the big "balla" status smoking a rat infested fake Cohiba..
Nino Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Found these 3 pics of classic Fauxhibas in my files today.

Tragically, it does not appear to be impacting sales.

Been there, no shame in admitting it. One of the coolest things about the cigar hobby is how long it takes to learn about it, and how much there is to learn.
TheDistrictJP Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Had a buddy come back from Cancun, said he brought cigars for me. Was a very nice surprise to see custom rolls from the LCDH.
Rye Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Found these 3 pics of classic Fauxhibas in my files today. Oooo, maduro Esplendidos! Nice ones Nino!
LordAnubis Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 How much do you guys reckon a bundle/box of these fakes cost?
Rye Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 How much do you guys reckon a bundle/box of these fakes cost? I am not sure about the beachfront glass tops, but the "sticker in box" ones are sold at very close to their real counterparts. Scary stuff!
beamer Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 How much do you guys reckon a bundle/box of these fakes cost? For what it's worth, the last time I was in Mexico, laying on the beach, I was offered a glass-top box of Cohibas for $15.
Nino Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 How much do you guys reckon a bundle/box of these fakes cost? Going rate for a good fake box in Cuba are 30 to 40 cookies ( CUC ). And I mean the really good faked boxes. For those bundles ( never seen them in Cuba ) I'd guess not more than 5 bucks.
