The U.S Cigar market is largest in the world, so the list is not suprising. #1 and #5 should have been #1 and #2 IMHO.

Being an American citizen, I fully agree with this. I recently finished smoking a box of HdM Epicure no. 1's that were mostly either plugged or underfilled. This wasn't a smart decision. Perhaps if I had a 'European' level of intelligence, I would have purchased a box of Padron Natural Monarcas that would have most likely had no construction issues whatsoever.

No constuction problems may-be yes, but also no taste, I would rather have a PESO cigar then any high end N.C. , Anyday .

I'll never understand the NC hate. There are plenty of NC cigars that are fantastic and complex.

I used ask the same question but after smoking strictly Cubans for the past few years I honestly cannot enjoy any NC now, high end or not. It's not hate it's just a fact. I know lots of members here enjoy ncs but there are many that don't and I don't believe emotion has anything to do with it.

If you don't like NCs, that's one thing. The people that go around bashing NCs and the people who smoke them is completely different. Smoke what you like and let others do the same. There is no fact to these opinions, they're purely opinions and preference. Same goes for the CA 25. It's based on their taste, their opinion.

Exactly! Everyone's tastes are different. Sometimes our tastes change over time. Sometimes cigars, like the monte 2 gets better over time. For others they don't taste.better. Look, the CA top 25 list is a mix of subjective likes, and trying to keep their readership and advertisers happy. Every 3 or 4 years a cuban is at the top. And CA has their business model to think of. We all know this is part of it. If we all made a list of our top smokes, many would be different! Isn't that what makes this hobby fun? Trying different things and finding our bests. Sometimes we agree, other times we agree to disagree. I am a therapist you know! I don't believe that "personal taste" comes into play in CA's rating… I remember when they admitted that they smoked less than one third of each vitola…

Never heard that before. As much as I'd like to admit this isn't the case, I'm sure CAs ratings are swayed by advertising dollars. Then again, CCs are consistently among the highest rated each month, and it's not like HSA is giving them any money to plug to a majority audience that cannot buy their products. CA certainly has its flaws, if I didn't get it for free every month, I don't know that I'd read it. It's a great toilet read, though :-P

Who's not letting people smoke what they like?

I'm not talking about this board at all, but a a portion of people that smoke strictly CCs that I've come in contact with seem to develop an extremely elitist attitude towards anything that isn't Cuban.

It IS a fact that some people's opinions of ncs are negative in nature but I don't see how that makes them haters.

You're kind of missing the point of what I said. I'm not saying that people don't have negative opinions of NCs. I'm sure they do. To each their own and what have you. What I said, and I quote was "There is no fact to these opinions, they're purely opinions and preference." Meaning that these negative opinions are exactly that. Opinions. They are not facts. They are opinions based on personal preference and taste, not on facts to substantiate claims to an alleged inferiority of the product.
