Newbie, this Time from the Top of the World

Finally, I decided that this might be the place to introduce myself, Uluku.

My present life takes place in a little town in the southern part of Greenland, where the sun still rises all during winter time. This little town has obviously only one Cigar- smoker, so there is very limited choice, if any at all. At a stopover in Copenhagen on the way home from vacation in Germany I asked my friend Jens if he knew where I could find a pipe-shop, which had moved from the place where it had been before, and he got me there, where I bought a very nice pipe, which is another of my smoking hobbies.

We were about to leave, when the shop- owner gave me his newsletter and this was , where I read about this Forum; o.k., and here I am: originally German born, I´ve been working in Denmark for 5 years, before I moved to this little town called Paamiut in May 2013, so I am also Newbie in this very wild and strange country with friendly people and rough climate.

On the long run, I would like to find possibilities to buy cigars online and get them shipped to my place, but first of all, I want to get to know you people, and from time to time share some of my experiences. I add a picture, the view from my living room over the south-east part of Paamiut, taken yesterday after a 4-hour blizzard. End of intro, kind greetings,

yours, Ulukupost-17707-0-05485800-1385907167_thumb.j

Greetings and welcome!

I guess I can imagine out of only 1500 or so in your village there might not be too many cigar smokers.

Based on most recent numbers I can find, it appears I purchased almost half as much in cigars this year as the entire continent imported in 2007..... http://www.indexmund...ommodity=240210

Looks pretty draconian from the duty free perspective too!

Import restrictions

Greenland is not considered a European Union country. Information on what you can bring into the country is available in airports – although drugs, weapons, living animals – including pets and birds are not allowed. Exceptions are made for dogs for the blind.

NB: From January 1, 2011 it is forbidden to bring any form of beer, wine, spirits or any other form of alcoholic drinks with you when you come into Greenland.

From this date the regulations concerning tax-free import of goods to Greenland have been changed so that only the following may be imported tax-free:

40 cigarettes or 5 cigars or 10 cigarillos or 50 g tobacco ***

Hope you can at least smoke indoors!
