Smallclub
The box code indicates the month of boxing. Nothing and no one is able to tell you how long the cigars have stayed in the escarpate (resting room) prior to be boxed; then the box code is no help. I have often heard that the best time for rolling is the drier season (Dec to April), so theorically box codes with Winter/Spring months should be favored… but Cuba being Cuba…
Ophidion
I am a big fan of spring month boxes for no discernible reason other than I like them (mar-may) but I have had great sticks from every month/year spanning 15 years. I haven't been collecting that long but my smokes are from 1998 to present.

Ginseng
I find that months with at least one vowel in its name generally is good for cigars. Wilkey

deckardjk
Month doesn't matter... but don't buy cigars rolled on a Monday or Friday.
