canadianbeaver Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Recently I have befriended the most fantastic illustrator/cartoonist on Facebook and he must be an Australian national treasure. Anton Emdin creates covers for Mad Magazine, Aus magazines like the Atlantic and the Globe and Mail and many more I am sure. My knowledge of publications there is very limited to what Anton shows on his website antonemdin.com I have commissioned him to do an illustration for a project I am working on here in Toronto and I can't wait to hang the framed original at home! Here are some samples. Enjoy!
Ken Gargett Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 never heard of him. i suspect that the most famous aussie cartoonist would be pat oliphant, though he left home many years ago - for the states.
Rye Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Very cool work! I can't wait to see what you've commissioned. I hope to soon!
Jeremy Festa Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Yes great work! Keen to see what he does for you also. Love the Koala image. And if you get a chance please ask him why it doesn't have two thumbs?
OZCUBAN Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Can't say I have heard of him but he does have some talent for sure good luck with your project
oliverdst Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 He draws and somebody else "paints", right? Not saying that this is bad. As a matter o fact, as far as I know, some arts are like that. Pictures, I guess, are always took and somebody else "reveals" it. (sorry guys, some beers and a bad English skill). I remember that movie "American Splendor" with Paul Giamatti. Sorry if I say something very wrong. BTW, Canadian Beaver, does your draw has something to do with cigars? I am thinking about to ask him make one to me.
Guest rob Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I've never heard of him either.... Though looks like clever work. Along with Pat, Michael Leunig Would be the most famoust Aussie cartoonist.

Anton is a commercial illustrator. Check out his website. I am going to check out the others you guys mention. I love illustrators!
canadianbeaver Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 Love this! Thanks for telling me about Micheal Leunig

Along with Pat, Michael Leunig Would be the most famoust Aussie cartoonist. yes, leunig very much at home. for oliphant, i was thinking internationally. the winery - curly flat - is named after his imaginary town. also locally, pickering. brilliant political cartoonist, though seem to have completely lost the plot these days with endless rants.
Bartolomeo Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Love this! Thanks for telling me about Micheal Leunig I love this.....
Fuzz Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 also locally, pickering. brilliant political cartoonist, though seem to have completely lost the plot these days with endless rants. "Seem to"? He's stark raving mad!
