ChanceSchmerr Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Today we just finished moving the boxes from our Uhaul into our new awesome Condo- I think its time to celebrate with a cigar I've been waiting to try from the FOH box pass - the 1933 Abbey Senator clear Havana from Lotusguy! Can't wait - review coming here shortly!
oliverdst Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Home sweet home. I hope you have great moments in your new house.
ChanceSchmerr Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Thanks fellas! This cigar is truly delicious. I love it! Review coming.....
ChanceSchmerr Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 The Abbey Senator is the most Box pressed cigar I've had - perfectly square around. A lighy tobacco aroma at cold, and quite firm but not overly slow. The cello wrap is very yellowed and opens along the lengthwise seam. A minor crack at the foot, but otherwise great condition, especially considering it travelled in the Box Pass for almost 5 months! A short cut with my Palio yields a perfect draw. Again, light tobacco flavor on the draw. First puffs/third - Wowzers! One of the lightest bodied cigars I've had, and yet much flavour to enjoy. Reminds me of a cross between ERDM and LGC MdO No. 3 - there is loads of citrus here, melding with gingerbread and slight honeyd sweetness. Just fantastic. The burn is perfect, as is the draw. I am "sipping" the cigar, as I find the extreme age of the tobacco might burn too hot if I take a deep draw. It draws so perfectly that I don't need to inhale deep to get smoke and flavour. Middle third - still tasty, but it retreated a bit, with the flavours a bit muted, mostly demerara sugar. I'd still take this muted taste over many cigars in their prime! It quickly comes back better than before, with the body increasing yo medium, and some baking spices like nutmeg entering the fore. Love it!!!! Still loads of smoke. I am in heaven. Okay, going to focus on the cigar - but here is a view from my new deck - I love this penthouse living! Looks like the pictures from my Phone bunch up at the bottom.... enjoy!
ChanceSchmerr Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Okay ......the view from my patio is upside down.....dammit!
Lotusguy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I am so glad you liked it - these are quite something and the standout amongst my various clear Havana boxes (not that those others are bad, mind you). Thanks again for running the box pass!

Reevzy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 That back patio looked great upside down! So I downloaded it and rotated it and WOW, very jealous. Just watch out for stray shots off the fairway, haha
CanuckSARTech Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Is that a golf course view from your patio? LOL!!!!!!! Tom's hooked! His seal of approval is all but a given now! LOL. Chris, congrats on the move, and glad everything went well for you and you and Chantelle are in your new digs. I know you were stressed about the move and all the nitty gritty details. But sounds and looks like all the stress was well worth it! Kudos.
