part of this was because -

German aircraft from Norway would fly on missions to

northern England ; because of the icy weather conditions,

the barrels of their guns had a small dab of wax to protect

them. As they crossed the coast, they would clear their guns

by firing a few rounds at the golf courses. Golfers were

urged to take cover.

Brilliant Ken! I reckon Tiger might have taken liberty with rule no 6 though!

Does rule no. 7 cover striking a bomb with a ball, causing it to explode and destroying said ball?

small wolrld - sent it to a number of mates and this came back from one.

Ken,

A wonderful piece. Suspect it refers to the same golf club where I was a member for just under 40 years. I finally reluctantly resigned about five years ago, never wanted to leave the place, too many happy memories. I know of no other club of the same name.

The club is situated on the west side of Richmond Park, less than an hours drive from London. It's one of the oldest clubs, if not the oldest in England. Membership was very English, quite stiff upper lip. Many notable members from royalty to Douglas Bader, tin legs, the spitfire ace. The clubhouse was once the Duke of Argyle's hunting lodge, used when the filth of London became too much. Shooting deer in the country(now Richmond Park) was much preferred. The central part of the building houses the "Cube Room", very large, all three dimensions the same, wonderful ornate with over the top decor, now the dining room. Fabuluous building inside and out. Just a very special place.

Hope its refers to my old haunt. Have sent this to many old friends/members.

Yours

fuzz, i think that is covered under rule 5.

What about when playing in a foursome and your playing partner gets blown up? Can you substitute another player, or must you forfeit the game? lol3.gif

wow, that gives a different perspective... i may just print this out and keep it in my golf bag, read it when I'm playing a crap round and be thankful i don't have to do no.7.... also, wouldn't be able to use it as an excuse....

Sweet historical story. I used to live right near Richmond Park when I lived in London. The park is so big there are actually two golf courses within it! And heaps of deer! This video went viral a little while back. Great glimpse of the deer!
