OZCUBAN Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Hi all with winter coming up here down under I was wondering what is the best Petit/Demi corona at the moment and why, looking for something for that quick winter smoke cheers Steve
Lotusguy Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Loving my BPC from a OGR ABR 2011 50 Cab. RASCC are fantastic as well (still smoking my 2010s). I always like Trini Reyes, regardless of the year. Not so much luck with 2011 Siglo I (too young) and Monte #5.
CanuckSARTech Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Hi all with winter coming up here down under I was wondering what is the best Petit/Demi corona at the moment and why, looking for something for that quick winter smoke cheers Steve Oh, quit rubbing it in, Steve!!!! You guys don't get "winter". You get "less summer-like"!
bassman Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Bolivar PCs are the most consistently good Cuban cigar I've smoked. Have not had a bad one since the 2004s- and IMHO most 2004 Cuban production was bland. Of course, you have to like Bolivar's earthy style.
Marker Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 RASCC if you can find them. Good little pepper taste. I love Bolivar but until I had a 2012 BPC from a local friend, I never had one I liked. The recent production is much better for me.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Bolic PC I think are just all round great, a sleeper is the RyJ Tres Petit Corona, gone since 2006 (I think) Rob has them listed on *****INT so I'm assuming he has a stock of them stashed away, if you want to see what RyJ used to be then grab a box, pure coffee, cherry and mild herbs. To be fair I don't really think you can go wrong with any petit corona currently being made, most of the time they are the best of the marca imo
OZCUBAN Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Oh, quit rubbing it in, Steve!!!! You guys don't get "winter". You get "less summer-like"! exactly more of a summer thats just wetter
OZCUBAN Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 do have a cab of Bolivar PCs but they are resting at the moment
OZCUBAN Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 To be fair I don't really think you can go wrong with any petit corona currently being made, most of the time they are the best of the marca imo I think you might be right there Capt Q also have a cab of PLPC also kind of resting
OZCUBAN Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 came across a box of aged DIP 5'S the other day not sure if i should pull the trigger only ever had a couple ,but from memory they are really nice Thats the story of my life whenever I find a great cigar they go and delete them
PartagasIV Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Not a PC, a minuto, but the Bolivar Coronas Junior is hands down winner in my book. A bit more complexity than the BPC, and just as reliable for me.
Colt45 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Steve, the youngest "small" cigars I have are '07 box dates, so I can't really comment on more recent production. In a smaller size, I really like the Montecristo No.5. Also, I think I differ a bit from other members in that I don't really consider a true PC a quick smoke, while I do feel a perla fits the bill. Happy smoking mate
Onsto Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I would have said BPC and Principe, but I've had a few very lackluster Principes from 2011 / 2012 production recently, so I'm going BPC for the win! For the less 'budget conscious', the Trini Reyes is the best short smoke I can think of. Consistently fantastic in my experience. They are overpriced for sure, but worth having a few (5 pack even) for your short smoke rotation. For the more 'budget conscious', the HdM Palmas Extra is an exceptional cheap and cheerful smoke. It's a 5.5 x 40, so not technically a PC or a minuto... Steve, my $0.02 - take the Dip 5 while you can get them! Even if you decide they aren't for you there will be absolutely no difficulty getting rid of them later...
bassman Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Not a PC, a minuto, but the Bolivar Coronas Junior is hands down winner in my book. A bit more complexity than the BPC, and just as reliable for me. Darn good cigar. Currently enjoying 08s & 11s, but like that extra inch on the PC. Those 06 RyJ TPCs are also very nice. Got a box here a few months ago. Hard to find! 2006 was last year made.
SurpriseMVP Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 2012 Reyes is the best young cigar I've smoked hands down. I also have a box of Juan Lopez pc from 11 that I can't keep my hands off.
Guest rob Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I know they strictly aren't what you're after, but I'm having great success with Upmann Half Coronas. This is not a smoke for the sake of having a smoke - its brilliant I'm its own right. Yes, more expensive.... But worth it!
jimb2u Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 BPC and Party Shorts are my go-to quick cigars. I have been braving the NY winters over the last few months for my quick 10 am cigar and coffee break whenever the temp is bearable and there is a patch of sun to stand in to smoke one with the usual suspects. RASS and QDO Corona's are also great but I have them in fewer numbers so I tend to save them for better conditions
Bartolomeo Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Upmann HC for a quick smoke or ERDM Demi Tasse even Bart
