Black Robe is a nice film. The Mission and Aguirre, The Wrath of God are two more colonialism-themed films that I enjoy.

For Houston? Blood Simple.

For Texas? Paris, Texas

For USA? Parallax View

For world? Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma

Can't not give my fave quote:

Rayburn: A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasey's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece.

LOL!!!! GREAT scene! I love how that helped fill in some of Creasey's character....how can the guy not be unbelievably good and tough and scary, etc. - even Christopher Walken, CHRISTOPHER FREAKIN' WALKEN, is freaked out scared of him and in awe!!!!! LOL.

I grew up on the fringes of industrial South Wales, and was just becoming aware of the world during the Miners Strike.

For nostalgia and seeing the best of the communities who inhabit a sometimes bleak place - David (1950s) and The Proud Valley (1940s). I would have put How Green was My Valley in here too, but it was filmed in California :)

For reality and a nod to a bit of 'Cool Cymru' from the late 1990s - Twin Town, Human Traffic and House of America. Dark, funny, sad and depressing all at the same time!

Ohh good catch with dead mans shoes Kev!

Dan I've never seen Kes, or heard of it!

Zulu has to get an honourable mention as Christmas day wouldn't be the same without it on in the background.

For my country:

In the name of the father

The wind that shakes the barley

Hunger

Angela's ashes

All brilliant movies... My wife's Irish.

And you mustn't forget "Adam & Paul" and "A Film with Me in it"

FYI CohibaStevie, "The Butcher Boy" was filmed in her hometown of Clones. Worth a watch!

For real! To be honest, I would not be recognizable. However, I am quite prominent in "Jingle All the Way" in a scene with Sinbad:

Walking Tall with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. A movie about a marine returning to his hometown where the logging industry has died, the mill has shut down, a casino is now the biggest employer and drug related crime is on the up. All these things happened in the town where I now live (although the casino is not the biggest employer) and the funniest thing is the movie was shot in our town !
