Alright, so I often see in,any posts people saying that they never smoke a cigar straight out ofthe box, that they let it rest in the humi for a long period before they taste it... Me, themimute I open the box, I have to smoke one.

What's your take on this?

I smoke one and then freeze the rest. Then, it is when I feel like smoking another one. No real hard and fast rule for me.

I always smoke straight out of the box. A few reasons, I'm an impatient bastard. By smoking one straight away I get an idea how they have improved from when I got them. I don't have enough cigars to be putting boxes away for years!

That's exactly what I did this W-E. Smoked one... Froze 100!

I smoke them after a few hours of getting back to room temp then I put the rest away. Revisit after a few days/weeks/months to see how they are coming along.

I can't resist! Always smoke at least one, and if it's good, smoke'm till they're gone. They seem to keep making more...

I let them settle in the humidor for at least four weeks before trying. I don't freeze hole.gif

I try one...if it's really harsh, I'll let them sleep for at least a month. I think it's always wise to try at least one off the bat.

I always let them rest for some period of time...cigars generally ship waaaay too wet to smoke. If I buy them from a BOTL, I might smoke it sooner, depending on how they feel to the touch.

I try to leave them to rest for a couple of weeks as transit time is atleast 7 days

Most of the time I cant though. Ive got some Monte 520's on the way that I wont be able to keep my hands off

I always smoke one and sometimes more if they are great first up. Then ill leave the rest for a couple of months while they acclimatise.

Yep! My cigars are kept at 65/65 (give or take) so beetles don't really worry me.

I always put them down for at least 6 months. I do from time to time open the box and smell them just to let them know I'm thinking about them.

Are we talking cubans here? Why freeze again?

I do often try one a day or two after arrival, then realize they probably could do with some rest.

I smoked one and then put them down. I smoke what I feel like, so if they've been in there for a week, month, year etc it doesn't matter.

I also don't freeze. The only holes I have had appear in a cigar were from a custom NC stick bought in Manhattan. It sprung holes before I even got home. Suffice to say, their humidor felt like a sauna. I keep mine at 60F or less 24/7.

Just want ro put all the chances on my side.

i believe its to kill any chances of beetles from hatching....i freeze as well due to my paranoia of those bastards hatching again

No freezing, I keep the box open just a tad in the wine fridge for a couple days. Then close the lid and smoke in a few weeks. Half the time I give away a few before I even try one.

You guys are way more reserved than I am...over the years I have become way more laid back.

I always smoke 1 within minutes of cracking the box.

SInce most of my orders are multi-box then I might wait a few hours to the next day to get into the other boxes.

I do make notes on how long I think I should wait...if I wait :)

Then of course I cut that time in 1/2 to try them and see how my notes were compared to reality.

Just part of the fun.
