Michael G Wilson. Although only credited in two of the films, he has appeared in small roles in pretty much every film since Goldfinger. He has written 5 of them and also been the producer of many. 1. Name three male actors who have appeared as both good guys and bad guys in the series. The third one wavers a bit in his second appearance, in his recurring role, between good/bad.

Charles Gray as Henderson in 'You Only Live Twice' and Blofeld in 'Diamonds are Forever'. Joe Don Baker as Brad Whitaker in 'The Living Daylights' and as Jack Wade of the CIA in both 'Goldeneye' and 'Tomorrow Never Dies'. Walter Gotell was the head trainer of Spectre in 'From Russia with Love' and also General Gogol of the KGB in six further films.

'A View to a Kill'.

  1. Which film was written by Roahl Dahl?

'You Only Live Twice'.

  1. When 007 and Honey Rider are in Dr No's lair, they are walking through a rather well-appointed lounge, up a short flight of stairs, off to dinner. Bond stops to take a closer look at something. What and why?

On a easel, is a painting, 'The Duke of Wellington'. It is by Goya (we are never told this and I think that in one of the Simpsons' episodes, they take the piss out of it). It was an extremely famous painting that, in real life, had just been stolen from the National Gallery in London (it was subsequently found a few years later in a lost luggage room in a Birmingham train station). In one of those nice touches, in 'Skyfall', when Craig's 007 meets the new Q, it is in the National Galley where the painting once hung (and might again – not sure on that).

  1. This is largely replicated in which subsequent 007 film and with what painting?

In 'Skyfall' with Mogigliani's 'Woman with a Fan', stolen from the Paris Museum of Modern Art in 2010. It was in the scene in Shanghai, where it was being sold.

'You Only Live Twice'.

  1. While 007 drinks Bolly these days, he had more eclectic tastes in early days, including various vintages of Dom. In the book of 'Casino Royale', he drinks 1943 Taittinger, though they never made that vintage. In the book, 'Moonraker', M serves him 1946 Dom, though it was also never made. Any such stuff-ups in the films?

Yes. In 'OHMSS', he drinks 1957 Dom. Never made. Horrible year.

  1. In the search for the first 007, Ian Fleming was keen on David Niven but this was ruled out. He then wanted his cousin to play the role. Who was his cousin, what film did he eventually appear in and what was odd about him?

Christopher Lee, 'Man with the Golden Gun', had three nipples.

  1. In 'Casino Royale', an international figure/celebrity makes a cameo appearance. Who was it and what were they doing in the film? I mean literally, not metaphorically.

Richard Branson, going through airport security.

  1. Where did Fleming get the name, 'James Bond'?

He wanted a bland name and found it in his bookshelves with a book called 'Birds of the West Indies' by Dr James Bond, an American ornithologist.

  1. What film gives a sly nod to that and how?

In 'Die Another Day', Brosnan pulls a book out of a book case. It is that book, though we do not see the author, just the title.

  1. In what country were the scenes of Cuba (in 'Die Another Day') shot?

Spain.

  1. Which Bond song was the only one to go to Number One? By?

'A View to a Kill' by Duran Duran.

Madonna.

  1. Tina Turner sang the theme to 'Goldeneye'. Who wrote it?

The Edge and Bono.

  1. In 'Dr No', a character is referred to in the credits as 'Boothroyd'. In 'The Spy who Loved Me', Barbera Bach refers to him as Major Boothroyd. He is better known as?

Q.

  1. Several of the Bond girls had their voices dubbed. All by the same woman, Nikki van der Zyl. Which girls were dubbed?
Claudine Auger (Domino) in 'Thunderball' and Ursula Andress (Honey) in 'Dr. No'. Also, Shirley Eaton (Jill Masterson) in 'Goldfinger' (apparently, she was too Cockney). And Eunice Gayson (Sylvia Trench) in 'From Russia with Love', Nadja Regin (Bonita) in 'Goldfinger', Mie Hama (Kissy Suzuki) in 'You Only Live Twice' and Francoise Therry (Chew Mee) in 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. And she partly re-voiced for Jane Seymour (Solitaire) in 'Live and Let Die' – apparently to get the lines right. She also did lots of minor roles.

  1. Leaving aside 'Never Say Never Again', did Sean Connery ever wear a toupee in any Bond film? If so, which?

All of them.

  1. Again, leaving aside 'Never Say Never Again', in which film/s does Bond not drive a car?

Thunderball.

  1. In which film is Bond never seen in London?

You Only Live Twice.

35.Where did Fleming get the name 'Goldeneye' from?

It was the name of his house in Jamaica.

  1. Who coined the name, 'Never Say Never Again'?

Connery's wife. For obvious reasons.

  1. Does Jaws have any dialogue in any of the films he appears in?

One line. “Well here's to us”, at the end of 'Moonraker'.

  1. At the beginning of 'You Only Live Twice', an actress called Tsai Chin plays the role of the girl who helps 007 fake his death. She appears in another 007 movie. Which movie and as what? A clue? Different Bonds and a reasonable time gap.

She appears in 'Casino Royale' as one of the poker players, 39 years later.

  1. As a creature of the Cold War, Bond often tangled with the Russians and the KGB. In which films is either Russia or the KGB, or a serving member thereof, the main protagonist?

None.

  1. Contrary to popular belief, Lazenby was not sacked after 'OHMSS'. Rather he was offered a deal to play Bond again, but he was not interested (possibly not the best career move). The deal offered him how many more movies as 007?

Seven.

Who coined the name, 'Never Say Never Again'?

Connery?

[Edit: Sean Connery? It was his comeback after a good while out of the role, after he'd said he wouldn't play Bond again or something like that?]

frenchkiwi, you were so close.

it was connery's wife who came up with the title, apparently with a fair degreeof sarcasm. they even credited her at the end of the film, supposedly as a token mollification.

I'd disagree with Bond never being seen in London in only one film. I'm pretty sure he was never seen in London in Licence to Kill. The film opens with Bond in Key West for Felix's wedding, he meets up with the CIA contract pilot, then he's in Isthmus for the remainder of the film.

fuzz, i must say i am struggling to think of london scenes but checking websites etc suggests that there were here.

"Before MI6 went public with its attention-grabbing Vauxhall Cross HQ, the movies saw the secretive organisation operate out of various buildings around Westminster, where the prime requirement for the intelligence services seems to be a clear view of Nelson’s Column. In Licence To Kill, Bond’s HQ is the Old War Office Building, Whitehall."

Ken, I'm pretty sure you're wrong on Roger Moores daughter...on the audio commentary for "Die Another Day" they mention the hostie being Moores daughter so "a view to a kill" is wrong!

has to be at the start of OHMSS when lazenby is trying to rescue diana rigg from her suicide and fighting the two bad guys on the beach and says, 'this never happened to the other fella' or words to that effect. i assume referring to connery.

There were scenes in London, (eg when Moneypenny calls Q), but Bond is never seen in London. If you're talking about London never being seen as a location in a film, then you're probably correct. In most of the films, Bond typically receives his orders in M's office In London, with the exceptions being the sub in You Only Live Twice and the Hemingway House in Licence to Kill.

That's part of the answer. There's another connection.

"Gert B. Frobe"

"Gert B. Frobe"

Bingo! Christopher Walken's character in Joe Dirt, was a mobster in witness protection and changed his name to Gert B Frobe. Walken played Max Zorin in A View to a Kill, and Gert Frobe played Auric Goldfinger in Goldfinger.
