El Presidente Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 This is the latest that I have heard today by two sources in Havana. The prosecutor charged Abel Exposito and one other senior manager from the Partagas Factory ( want a few more confirmations before announcing it) of international trafficking, smuggling and illicit appropriation of funds. Sentence being sought is 20 years. Maybe the tide has turned in the Partagas Mafia.
Smallclub Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Ouch. I guess this will give a somewhat special taste to all these 2003 Partagas salomons, Partagas assortments, etc…
laficion Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 It 's a shame that it had to happen at the Partagas factory,Sad indeed :;::!!!!!!!
Cohiba Stevie Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 It 's a shame that it had to happen at the Partagas factory,Sad indeed :;::!!!!!!! Guy!!! So glad to see you post again! Hope you are well mate.
AlohaStyle Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Damn, 20 years... I wonder about the future of the Partagas Festival. It's been 15 years of success and people coming to spend money so I can't imagine they would be so dumb as to not keep it going. But I could also see them think it was Abel's gathering where possible "corruption" was going on and wanting to rid themselves of all things Abel. No way I think they cancel it moving forward, but it wouldn't surprise me.
BrotherBear Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I wonder about the future of the Partagas Festival. ... No way I think they cancel it moving forward, but it wouldn't surprise me. So long as they don't had out Guants & other mm cigars in the goodie bags.
Smallclub Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 So long as they don't had out Guants & other mm cigars in the goodie bags. … as if there was a chance of that happening…
AndrewNR Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 For me.. In essence.. It feels the modern world and all its over policing is catching up with cigars and is very firmly trying to remove the romance about it all.. Sure, Fraud isn't exactly romantic.. But if Cubans weren't made how and where they are with the storys seeming to be of another time.. they'd be just the same as the **** you buy anywhere else. In a way, Anyhow.
BrotherBear Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 … as if there was a chance of that happening… \Exactly what happened this past year. True story.
Jnaube Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Really sad story. I guess when you try to get around the system, system eventually gets you.
Dara Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 \ Exactly what happened this past year. True story. I guess I was lucky, I got a pack of Troya on the opening night
Smallclub Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I guess I was lucky, I got a pack of Troya on the opening night The crap in a plastic tube? I wouldn't smoke it even I were paid for it…
mk05 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Going to be given in Feb in the box as well right?
CanuckSARTech Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 So long as they don't had out Guants & other mm cigars in the goodie bags. … as if there was a chance of that happening… \ Exactly what happened this past year. True story. I guess I was lucky, I got a pack of Troya on the opening night SC, yes, that's what happened to the festival attendees this past November. Partagas sticks given out as well, of course. But in the goodie bags for opening night??? The extra stuffers were Troyas, and then for the closing night, it was Belindas (can't remember if Fox said the Guants were in the opening night bag, or the closing night bag). He put it best....(paraphrasing)...."It's almost like these guys just put some extras in there that they had lying around, to try and make these bags look fuller with more stuff. But in putting more of this stuff in, they just made it emptier and more pathetic."
Strada Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 \ Exactly what happened this past year. True story. And there was a night when they put Cohiba cigarettes also... Smh
CanuckSARTech Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 And there was a night when they put Cohiba cigarettes also... Smh That's right! LOL. Forgot all about that!
Scdalak Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Big Brother is watching at all times no matter what. The world has changed, cant get away with anything anymore, believe me I have tried... Addios Amigo, buena suerte en el carcel communista!!

Addios Amigo, buena suerte en el carcel communista!! Yep, last Feb at the 520 night on the Wednesday the models bringing the cigars to the tables were very hesitant to give more than 1 cigar per person....I heard previous years you could charm a 2nd cigar out of them but not this year. As for the Troyas I put one in a kris kindle we had at our Christmas herf as a joke......I replaced it with something proper after the initial confusion from the poor guy who drew it ou of the bag! For me the best part of the Partagas customs at the Encuentro were the bands
PigFish Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 ...seems like the only people who were really interested in "selling" cigars and not stockpiling them for a future that might never come are going to prison! I think they should put Cuba's leadership in prison and let these guys go on selling cigars!!! -Piggy
AlohaStyle Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (can't remember if Fox said the Guants were in the opening night bag, or the closing night bag). Yes, I got the Guantanamera's in my opening night bag, what a joke!?! I was actually able to give it a good home as I gave a few cigars (including the ones I got in my opening night bag) to the owner of my Casa Particulares and he was so appreciative, especially of the tubed Guant. What is crap to me, was a treasure to him. Even a dirt cheap cigar to us, is a lot of money to local Cubans. If I remember correctly, 2 of these were in my bag: (from Trevor's site)
