Hi all,

arrived this late afternoon in HK, lovely weather, bit overcast but miiiild at 20 C.

Had a very nice evening with friends, great abalone and chicken and many more good stuff dinner followed by Epicures Nr 2 from the 80's from a Fox cabinet, excellent '96 champagne and a very tannic and lovely '96 Cht. Selon-Segur (?).

Tomorrow off to get my China visa and then more of the same until Monday when I continue to Guangzhou - good food, good friends and good cigars.

Pictures will follow.

Too tired -it's 2 am here ... goota sleep. Can't wait until tomorrow :-)

Only a few hrs of sleep, good breakfast, off to the Chinese consulate in Central to get my visa for Guangzhou, not possible there, off to Mongkok and China Travel services there, no problem, visa ready this afternoon.

All set to leave for China next Monday.

Until then it's great Chinese food and vintage cigars here in Hong Kong ... tough life, but now that the Doomsday didn't arrive we have to celebrate, right ?

Going for a siesta now.

Riaz, considering our airline prices here, and we talked with Nino about this in Cuba, you really don't want to know how reasonable it is for him to travel now. Very lucky man! Making me think that I picked the wrong career path, thinking ahead to my travelling wishes for retirement.... LOL.

Another great evening of good long conversations with my host, Min Ron Nee at his home like the last 2 days.

Great food, incredible '96 champagnes by Billancourt-Salmon plus a bottle of Pol Roger Sir Winston to '75 Dunhill Montecristo Nr 3 cigars.

Pictures will follow plus impressive details on his second edition book that will amaze the cigar world by its quality, photographs, text and printing quality.

Perfect day - if this was "doomsday", what were the Aztecs dreaming about ... ??

Ha, so most of you would think that after 35 years of flying I would be used to jetlag, right ?

Wrong – hits me in the face like all of you as well. Mostly in the middle of the night …

Slept 3 hours from 02 to 05 am, woke up, no wonder being 2200 or 10 pm in my body clock, read magazines for 2 hours in bed and then decided to start the day by having dinner at the breakfast buffet … I succeeded and the buffet here at the Shatin Regency Hyatt is truly a feast.

A three egg omelet, 2 fried eggs, some sweet ham, salmon, salami, ham, and fresh croissants with honey later, here I am sitting outside by the pool smoking my “morning cigar” ( a Siglo II ) with fresh orange juice and café au lait and sorting my mental notes about the last 3 days here in HK with Min Ron Nee.

They will be on my blog …

For now, some first pictures.

PD : Sorry - cannot upload the pictures - too large it says, so here's the link to some of them on my blog :

Nino, you live a life worth being jealous of! It's one thing that you just came back from Cuba, but Hong Kong during Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year in one of my favorite cities in the world!

Hope you have a great time! While we're here in freezing Europe....... ;) What I wouldn't give for shaved ice with mango and yoghurt :'(

Spent almost 12 hrs with MRN yesterday having a fantastic dinner al fresco with Scottish oysters and a Magnum of Dom Ruinart looking at the amazing 8x10 photographs with 350 lines to be printed for his new book - unbeliavable quality, this is taking printing and photography to new levels !

Then continued the dinner inside the house with smoked goose and more champagne followed by La Flor de Cano and Dunhill Montecristo Nr 3.

Ended having a few Tsingtaos ... and a great 11 hr sleep.

Off to Guangzhou and Shamian island tomorrow.
